One Tigris Noble Jade Sleeping Pad Review: Big Comfort at a Fair Price
A four-inch insulated backpacking pad with an R-value of 7 and a $110 price tag, plus the one limitation that matters most for cold-weather campers.
Introduction
One Tigris has built its reputation on affordable camping gear, and the Noble Jade is the company’s most ambitious backpacking sleeping pad to date. It pairs a honeycomb surface with a claimed R-value of 7, a four-inch-thick center, and a retail price of $110. That spec sheet places it in the same conversation as the Therm-a-Rest XTherm, an insulated pad that costs roughly $140 more.
Numbers on paper only tell part of the story. After several months of use, including nights that dropped well below freezing, the Noble Jade turns out to be a genuinely comfortable pad with one significant caveat: its real-world warmth does not match what its rating implies.
Who the One Tigris Noble Jade Is For
This is a warm-weather and shoulder-season pad. It performs best from late spring through early autumn, where its four-inch center keeps hips and shoulders clear of the ground and the reflective interior adds a useful layer of insulation. Campers who mostly sleep in mild conditions will find it comfortable, and its $110 price makes it an easy recommendation against pads that cost two or three times as much.
It is not a winter pad. Anyone planning to sleep on snow, in deep cold, or through extended sub-freezing nights should look elsewhere. It is also a poor match for ultralight quilt users, because it does not reflect enough body heat on its own to compensate for a backless quilt.

For backpackers who want a thick, forgiving sleeping surface for three-season trips and do not mind carrying a slightly warmer insulation layer in exchange for a lower price, this pad makes a lot of sense.
Comfort and Build Quality
The Noble Jade scores well on comfort. Lying on it, whether on your back, stomach, or side, keeps you fully off the ground, and it earns a solid seven out of ten on a simple comfort scale. That is a meaningful step forward for One Tigris, whose earlier pads were far less pleasant to sleep on.
The design has one oddity. The center of the pad measures about four inches thick, but the perimeter tapers down to roughly two and a half inches. That taper saves a little material and weight, but it creates a noticeable drop at the edges. Sleepers who move around at night may find themselves drifting toward the edge, and sitting on the pad sends you straight to the ground. Once you lie down, though, the center holds you up well.

Inflation matters more here than on most pads. The honeycomb construction needs a lot of air to reach full support, and anything short of maximum pressure means you will feel the ground. Expect to spend a couple of minutes filling it, and expect your lungs to do the work.
Build quality is a genuine strength. The seams are welded cleanly, there is no fraying, and the pad held pressure throughout months of use without leaks. The materials are a polyester shell with a TPU top layer, a 20-denier nylon bottom, and a thermal-reflective aluminum foil lining inside.
Warmth Performance in Real Conditions
This is where the Noble Jade separates itself from the pad it was designed to challenge. Both the Noble Jade and the Therm-a-Rest XTherm carry an R-value of 7, yet they do not perform the same way in the cold. On a night around 30 degrees Fahrenheit the Noble Jade felt chilly, though manageable. At 15 degrees Fahrenheit it was simply too cold to be comfortable.
The reflective foil lining does help, but it does not return the same amount of body heat as the XTherm, and it does not block cold from seeping up through the ground as effectively. The practical consequences are straightforward. If you plan to use this pad in cool conditions, pair it with a properly rated sleeping bag rather than a quilt, and consider adding a thin closed-cell pad underneath for extra ground insulation.
Compared directly, the XTherm is lighter, packs smaller, sits lower in profile yet feels more comfortable, and is markedly warmer. It is also a premium purchase, which is the whole reason the Noble Jade exists.
Things to Consider Before Buying
The included pump sack is the weakest part of the package. It is awkward to use and disconnects from the valve easily, which makes inflation more frustrating than it needs to be. A small portable air pump is a much better companion, particularly in cool weather when blowing into the pad by hand is unpleasant.
Expect some noise. Pads with reflective foil interiors crinkle, and the Noble Jade is no exception. It is not especially loud, but light sleepers who wake at the smallest sound may find it distracting.

Availability is simple but limited: one size and one color, a dark blue that reads almost black. The inflated dimensions are 77.6 inches long by 25.6 inches wide, which suits sleepers up to around 6 feet 3 inches, and the mummy-cut shape tapers toward the foot. The oversized storage bag makes packing and unpacking easy, and the pad rolls down to roughly 10 by 3.5 inches when deflated.
Buying Advice
At $110, the Noble Jade undercuts the XTherm by around $140, and that gap is the core of its appeal. If your camping calendar is built around mild nights and you want a thick, well-built pad without spending premium money, this is a reasonable and comfortable choice. It is the best sleeping pad One Tigris has produced so far.
If cold-weather performance is a priority, the calculation changes. The XTherm remains the benchmark for warmth, weight, and packed size, and the price difference reflects real capability rather than branding. There is no cheaper shortcut to that level of insulation in this comparison.

Two improvements would make the Noble Jade far more competitive: removing the tapered perimeter so the full sleeping surface stays at four inches, and increasing genuine warmth so the R-value claim holds up in the field.
Conclusion
The One Tigris Noble Jade is a comfortable, well-made, affordable sleeping pad that handles warm weather and cool shoulder-season nights well. It is not the premium-pad killer its specifications suggest, and cold-weather campers should look at warmer options. For everyone else, it delivers a good night’s sleep at a price that is hard to argue with.
