Woodbin Craft Refill Adapter & Knock Set Review: Unlock New Refills for the Craft P01
A official Woodbin Craft accessory that lets the Craft P01 ballpoint accept 4C and JIS standard refills, opening up far more ink choices than the default G2 setup.
Introduction
Woodbin Craft has released a refill adapter and knock set designed specifically for its Craft P01 ballpoint pen, and it is one of those small accessories that quietly changes how useful a pen can be. Out of the box, the Craft P01 accepts G2 standard refills. With this official set installed, the same pen can take 4C standard and JIS standard refills instead.
For anyone who has wished they could run their favorite ink in the Craft P01, that is a meaningful upgrade. Note that a companion short ballpoint pen from Woodbin Craft launched around the same time, sized to fit a compact notebook, but this review focuses on the adapter set itself.
What You Get in the Set
The set includes two parts: the refill adapter and an alternative knock (the pen’s click mechanism and tip holder). The knock is machined by skilled craftsmen to a precision of roughly 1/100 mm, which is the kind of tolerance you would expect from a brand obsessed with writing feel.

Here is the important detail: the 4C and JIS standard refills differ slightly from the original G2 refill, and the knocks are not interchangeable. The included knock differs in size by about 0.2 mm compared to the original G2 knock, a difference that is nearly invisible to the naked eye but deliberate. Swapping the knock along with the adapter is what preserves the pen’s original rattle-free, smooth writing experience. The price is 1,420 yen, which is reasonable for an official part with this level of machining.
Installation: Knock First, Then the Adapter
Installation is straightforward and takes only a few minutes. Start with the knock swap: as you remove the pen’s internals, the spring can shoot out, so take care not to lose it.

Once the knock is swapped, move on to the adapter. Remove the knock, slide out the existing refill, insert your new refill into the adapter, and reassemble. There is one critical step: the adapter has a small window, and you must check through it to confirm the refill is inserted deep enough. The fit is snug, but if the refill stops short of the correct depth, the knock will lock with the tip permanently extended. Push it all the way in until it verifies through the window, then reattach the spring, reassemble, and you are done.
Writing Feel with Different Refills
The stock Craft P01 setup runs a Jetstream SXR-6005 0.5 mm refill, but the reviewer behind this test prefers 0.7 mm, so the adapter set is a natural fit for anyone who wants more refill options. First test: a Jetstream multi-function refill, the SXR-2005, dropped into the adapter. Any 4C or JIS standard refill should work, not just this one.

The resulting line was slightly firmer than expected, but the writing feel remained smooth and completely free of wobble, which speaks to the quality of the official parts. Next came a swap to a Pilot black ink refill, the BRF-10F Ball 0.7 mm. Since the knock had already been exchanged, the swap only required pulling the adapter out and changing the refill inside it, again making sure it was seated fully past the window.
The Pilot ink delivered an excellent writing experience, and the jump from 0.5 mm to 0.7 mm alone adds a sense of smoothness. Anyone who has wanted to use oil-based Pilot inks in a Woodbin Craft pen now has an official, reliable way to do it.
Weight and Balance
With the adapter and a 4C standard refill installed, the pen’s balance stays essentially unchanged, still near the middle with a slight lean toward a higher balance point. On the scale, the stock pen weighs 30.8 g, while the adapter plus a 4C refill comes in at 32.2 g.

The adapter itself weighs 3.8 g. Because 4C refills are slimmer and lighter than G2 refills, some weight is offset, but the adapter adds a little on top. In practice, the roughly 2 g difference was not noticeable during writing, so the change is easy to live with.
Buying Advice
This set makes sense for one specific group: Craft P01 owners who want to move beyond the Jetstream G2 refill. If that describes you, this is an easy recommendation, since it is an official part that maintains the pen’s signature writing feel, and it also means colored inks and other 4C or JIS refills become fair game. If you are happy with the stock G2 configuration, you do not need it.
Conclusion
The Woodbin Craft Refill Adapter & Knock Set is a well-engineered solution to a real limitation. With a precise knock swap and a carefully designed adapter, the Craft P01 gains access to a much wider pool of refills while keeping the smooth, rattle-free writing feel that made the pen appealing in the first place. For Craft P01 owners with a favorite ink outside the G2 standard, it is worth a look.
