Plus Fab Hub Pen Case Lineup: Three Sizes, One Design Language

Plus Fab Hub offers a flat, a round, and a round-with-lid pen case under one unified design. Here is how each size behaves in daily use and who it suits best.

Three Plus Fab Hub pen cases in different sizes arranged on a concrete surface

Introduction

The Plus Fab Hub pen case series is a stationery line from Plus that takes its name from the first letters of “fabrication” and “fabric”, with a design philosophy built around the beautiful expression of fabric. The lineup is aimed primarily at students and pairs well with premium writing instruments thanks to its deliberately simple look.

The range comes in three capacity tiers: a slim Flat model, a middle-capacity Round model, and a Round with Lid model that offers the most storage. Each also comes in three colorways, so you can match the size to your carrying style and still keep the design consistent. This guide breaks down what each size does well and where you might hesitate.

The Shared Front Pocket Design

Every Fab Hub pen case, regardless of size, shares one signature feature: a front pocket across the outside of the case. What makes it unusual is that the fabric is intentionally left slightly slack. That slack is not a flaw; it is the design. It gives the pocket visual depth and creates enough internal space to hold slightly bulky items like a stapler, glue stick, or correction tape.

Because the pocket sits on the outside, it is the natural home for the items you reach for most often. It is a small touch that makes the whole series feel thought through rather than generic.

Plus Fab Hub Flat: The Slim Everyday Option

The Flat model is noticeably thinner in person than photos suggest. It is made of polyester with a pleasant hand feel, and the resin coil zipper runs smoothly. The body is a long rectangle, taller than the other models, which gives it more horizontal spread instead of depth. That shape also means the zipper runs in a straight line, so you can open and close it with a single sideways pull and grab what you need quickly.

Inside there are no dividers at all. It is a pure load-and-go pouch, closer in feel to a slim travel pouch than a traditional pen case. That works beautifully for a compact set of items you want to toss in a bag without it bulking up, and it is a great way to carry markers, where scratches are not a concern. But because nothing inside is protected or held in place individually, anyone worried about their stationery picking up scuffs should look at the other models instead. It is priced at 1,210 yen including tax, which is easy to reach for.

Plus Fab Hub Round: The Middle Ground

The Round model sits in the middle of the lineup for both capacity and price at 1,430 yen including tax. It uses the same polyester fabric and resin coil zipper as the Flat. One note from handling: the zipper can catch on the interior piping when the case is empty, but once the case is filled, that snag disappears entirely, so it is nothing to worry about in daily use.

As the name suggests, the body is round, so the zipper travels in a curve rather than a straight line, a familiar shape for anyone who has owned a standard pen case.

Open it up and both sides are lined with pockets. The left side has a small pocket plus a tall mesh pocket; the right side mirrors it with a small pocket and a tall fabric pocket. The small pockets fit items like erasers, sticky notes, and a spare pen, while the tall pockets hold rulers, scissors, and pens. If you carry a lot of pens, you can use both tall pockets for them, though the clips may touch and mark each other, so that approach suits pens you do not mind wearing slightly.

The fabric has cushioning built in, so contents are protected gently, and everything stays loosely fixed in place rather than rattling around. It opens flat so you can see at a glance where everything is. It is a well-balanced option with a good degree of freedom for separating your stationery.

Plus Fab Hub Round with Lid: The Capacity Leader

The Round with Lid is the model we looked at before in black, and this time it appears in navy and silver as well. All three colorways share the same fabric tone, so you can use them as a reference when choosing. The surface has a noticeable gloss, and since it has a lid, the case is about twice as thick as the other models. It is also the only one in the series made of polyvinyl, giving it a smoother, more elastic touch than the polyester models.

This is the highest-capacity pen case of the three. Inside, the left side has one tall mesh pocket, and the right side has five elastic pen holders with a clear pocket behind them for flat items like sticky notes, plus a divided section for small goods like erasers. The layout is two-tiered, with open free space underneath. Pens sit independently and protected, and you can also slot pens into the mesh pocket opposite.

One caution: the pen holders have no flap over them, so tall items stored in the mesh pocket can interfere with the pens in the holders. Keep that in mind when packing. The interior lining color also varies by colorway: navy has a black interior and silver a greyish one. At 1,760 yen including tax, it is the most expensive of the three but still very reasonably priced for the largest model, and it is the clear pick if you carry a lot of pens and stationery.

Buying Advice: Choosing Between the Three

Because the design is unified across the series, your choice really comes down to how much you carry and how you treat your stationery. The Flat suits minimalists who throw a few items in a bag and do not worry about scuffs, especially for markers. The Round is the all-rounder for people who want to separate erasers, rulers, and pens and see everything at a glance. The Round with Lid is for heavy carriers who want elastic pen slots, layered storage, and the most capacity.

It is also worth knowing that Fab Hub is the first wave of a new Plus brand, with more products expected to follow, so the design language you buy into now is likely to grow. Currently, Fab Hub products are sold online only, available through the Plus direct shop and Amazon.

Conclusion

The Fab Hub series makes an easy decision out of what is usually a fussy purchase: pick your capacity, pick your color, and the design stays consistent. The Flat wins on portability and price, the Round balances protection with flexibility, and the Round with Lid covers anyone who genuinely needs the space. Whichever you land on, the draped front pocket is the detail you will end up using every day.
