Granberg Wooden Accessories: A Handmade Cutter Knife and Planner Pen Worth a Look
Two beautifully crafted wooden goods from Granberg, a small workshop brand: a magnetic wooden cutter knife and a compact cocobolo planner pen.
Introduction
Granberg is a small workshop brand built around wooden goods, creative remakes, and items with a bit of personality. Its lineup includes key holders, knives, and more recently a planner pen and new cases, but the current mainstay is the wooden cutter knife. We picked up two items from the brand, the wooden cutter knife and the newly launched wooden planner pen, and spent time with both. Here is how they hold up in everyday use.
Granberg Wooden Cutter Knife
The cutter knife is the brand’s flagship product. It comes in two sizes, an S type and an L type, and the S type we tested measures 140mm in overall length with a width of 15 to 25mm. The appeal starts with the material: beautiful grain woods such as cocobolo and chechen, and the tactile feel of wood is simply far more pleasant in hand than a plastic cutter.

Our unit is an S-type model in black, ordered directly from the brand early on before regular sales began. The front looks like ordinary wood, but the reverse side splits into a bold contrasting color, which gives it a fun character. The cap uses a strong neodymium magnet and, sliding it down lets you swap the blade quickly. The cap is made from the same wood species as the body, and the gold-colored blade that comes standard is a coated blade that adds a touch of luxury. Standard market blades can also be fitted.

For anyone who cuts paper regularly, size matters. The S type is ideal for smaller sheets, while larger paper really calls for the L type to keep the work efficient. Pricing varies depending on size and shape, so it is worth checking each listing. There is also a cylindrical pen-style cutter in the lineup, and full customization is available, from specifying the wood species to antique bronze-plated metal frames and brass sliders.
Granberg Wooden Planner Pen
The planner pen is a recent addition to the range. Packaging is minimal: just the box and the pen itself, though even the shipping box carries the brand logo, a small detail that reflects the care behind the product.

Our unit combines wood and brass. It is a notably compact pen at 110mm long, 8mm in shaft diameter, and just 14.5g in weight, small enough to pair with an A5-size planner (Hobonichi Techo class). The wood is cocobolo, a hardwood from the legume family with a striking black-and-red gradient, used in high-end furniture and musical instruments. It is also a rare species regulated under the Washington Convention, which adds to its appeal as a material.
The grip is an original brass machined part. It feels smooth but not slippery, and it should develop even more grip character as the brass ages. The clip is slightly flexible but holds firmly, and it can slide left and right so you can position it where you like. The retractable mechanism has a crisp, tactile click, and the refills are Pilot Brfn-edge compatible. If you insist on a Jetstream, wrapping the refill with masking tape or rubber tubing can make it work, and the brand shares such tips publicly.
Writing with it was a pleasant surprise. The pen is small and slim, so we had doubts, but it writes comfortably, with a slightly low balance point that keeps it stable in hand. Pricing varies by wood species.
Things to Consider Before Buying
One issue came up with the planner pen. Our unit arrived with marks from the clip already pressed into the wooden shaft, a full ring around the barrel. Because wood is delicate, the clip needs to be lifted before rotating the mechanism, or it can leave marks or scratches on the wooden section. Better packaging protection during shipping would be a welcome improvement. If you buy one, check the condition on arrival and handle the clip with a little care.
Should You Buy Them?
Both products share the same core appeal: a stylish design that blends metal and wood, materials that develop character with age, and a reasonable price for handmade-quality goods. The cutter knife is genuinely pleasant to use and beautiful enough that you will want to collect more of them. The planner pen is a natural companion for a compact planner, with an eye-catching bullet-like silhouette and excellent brass detailing.

Conclusion
Granberg makes exactly the kind of everyday objects that quietly improve a desk: a wooden cutter knife with a magnetic cap and quick blade changes, and a compact cocobolo and brass planner pen that writes better than its size suggests. If you like wooden goods and items that age gracefully, both are easy to recommend. Keep an eye on the brand’s new releases, as the range keeps growing.
