Introduction

Bungu Joshi Haku is one of Japan’s most popular stationery events, where manufacturers show off their newest and most inventive products. The grand prize winners get all the fame, but the rest of the lineup is genuinely strong too, and this year’s entries gave us plenty to talk about.

Below are the picks we loved from the 2025 event, from diorama sticker sets to a grand prize-winning layered stamp. Whether you plan, journal, or collect fountain pen inks, something here deserves a spot on your desk.

BGM Diorama Sticker Sets

These sticker sets are perfect for a chill craft night. Each one includes one card and two sticker sheets, and the sheets themselves are clear, which makes planning where each element goes much easier. Scenes like the festival, cafe, convenience store, or izakaya pub come to life as you place the stickers.

For precise placement, the MU Multifunctional Tweezers are a handy companion and a favorite of our team for fiddly sticker work.

A simple but essential desk tool. These tweezers give you the control you need for precise sticker placement, which matters a lot when working with clear sheets and detailed diorama elements.

Bande Sticker Rolls

These sticker rolls work as reminders or decor in journal and planner spreads. Each design peels off individually, and because they are made of washi tape, they are repositionable. The writable surfaces pair well with pencils, ballpoint pens, and gel pens.

Themes include assorted shapes, speech bubbles, and days of the week in Japanese, with the days of the week being especially charming. It is worth checking a reference so you remember which kanji matches which day.

Wancher PuChiCo Mini Fountain Pens

At first glance these tiny pens look too precious to use next to standard-size pens, but they are surprisingly practical. With the caps posted they are 8.9 centimeters, or 3.5 inches, long, so they are comfortable to hold for short writing sessions.

They are just right for tiny notes, especially with their fine and extra fine nibs. Each pen comes with a pipette for filling from your favorite bottled ink, and we recommend sticking to dye-based inks to make cleaning easier.

Sakae TP Ink Cards

If your ink collection keeps growing no matter what, these cards are a necessity. Their paint palette motifs are large enough for swatching inks with a cotton swab or paintbrush, and the lines on the side are for adding the ink brand, name, and a writing sample.

The cards use Iroful paper, which makes inks look crisp and satisfying, and it is one of the best fountain pen papers around for this purpose.

Maruman Mini Binder

A natural companion to the ink cards above. After swatching your inks, slip the cards into a card file and a Maruman mini binder. This lets you flip through them quickly and avoid buying duplicates.

Pentel Dual Metallic Gel Pens

These gel pens incorporate shimmering particles for striking titles and highlights in artwork. Beyond traditional gold and silver, each pen features a unique color combination.

The base ink colors show up best on light paper, while the glitter pops on dark paper. The inks are also available in brush pens for expressive line variation. One tip: gently shake the pens before each use to mix the ink and glitter.

Copic Acrea Markers

Copic is best known for alcohol-based markers, so seeing them release these pens was a pleasant surprise. The Acrea Markers show up well on white or black paper, can write on many surfaces, and are waterproof once dry.

They come in single pens or curated sets, all with 0.8 millimeter bullet tips, and they are great for adding embellishments to photos. Be sure to prime them by shaking with the caps on, then uncapping and pressing the tips onto scratch paper until the ink flows.

Uni-ball ZENTO Gel Pens

The ZENTO ink formula is smooth and vibrant with minimal feathering and bleedthrough. The standard line was the specific entry for 2025, offering colorful pen bodies with longer rubber grip sections that accommodate many grip styles.

They are great everyday pens for note-taking, journaling, or planning.

Midori Calendar Template Stencils

Planner enthusiasts who make their own spreads will appreciate these stencils. They are made of brass, so they will last a lifetime, and they come in small, medium, and large sizes for creating monthly or weekly calendars.

The assorted shapes are great for emphasizing important dates and generating checklists alike.

Sanby Multi-Stickers and Hisago Shikkari Pita Sticky Notes

The Sanby Multi-Stickers took the grand prize and the Hisago Shikkari Pita Sticky Notes took the honorable mention at the Tokyo Stationery Week Awards, and both deserve more time in the spotlight.

The Multi-Stickers adhere to paper, fabric, and more. They are also perforated for removing the stickers and placing them inside phone cases without sticking them down.

The Sticky Notes come in different sizes for page flags and memos, and each pack features illustrations of cats. One design even looks like a baguette. Since the adhesive covers 70 percent of their backs, they stick well even when reapplied.

Kutsuwa Hancoco Slide Layer Stamps

The grand prize winner for the 2025 Bungu Joshi Haku. As the name suggests, each holder comes with two pre-inked stamps that slide and are applied in the empty middle spaces to create layered effects.

The plastic holders ensure everything lines up just right, and the stamps can be mixed and matched or used as single designs. It is an ingenious idea, and it is easy to see why voters ranked it number one.

More Winners to Watch

Two more Bungu Joshi picks worth keeping an eye on are the Nakabayashi Patap and the Maruman Kurutto Ring Mini Binder. Both generated real buzz at the event, and they are well worth a look if you want to go beyond this list.

The Maruman Kurutto Ring Mini Binder rounds out the lineup and follows Maruman’s strong track record with compact binder formats.

Conclusion

The 2025 Bungu Joshi Haku lineup proves that even the entries that do not win grand prizes are genuinely great. Start with the Kutsuwa Hancoco Slide Layer Stamps if you want the crowd favorite, the Sanby Multi-Stickers or Hisago Shikkari Pita Sticky Notes if you love cute and functional extras, or the Wancher PuChiCo and Sakae TP Ink Cards if ink is your thing. There is something here for every kind of paper person.
