Skechers Go Run Razor 4: A Thoroughly Updated Up-Tempo Trainer
New Hyper Burst Pro foam, a carbon-infused forefoot plate, and a tougher outsole make the Razor 4 a more durable and better-balanced version of the Razor formula.
Introduction
It has been a couple of years since the last update to this series, so a fourth version arriving was a welcome surprise. The Go Run Razor 4 is different from top to bottom: new foam, a new upper, a new outsole, and a carbon-infused plate in the forefoot. The essence of the Razor is still there, but nearly every component has been reworked.
Who This Shoe Is For
The Razor 4 remains an up-tempo kind of trainer, the type of workout shoe that many runners will appreciate. It is built for faster days rather than easy plodding, and its flexible, toe-rolling ride suits runners who want a light, responsive shoe for tempo sessions and workouts.

Main Strengths
The midsole is now Hyper Burst Pro, a TPU-based foam that feels like expanded TPU. It was a little stiff initially, but it has felt better and more bouncy with every mile added. Unlike the original Hyper Burst, which felt good and then went flat, this foam is getting better as the miles accumulate.

The shoe finally has some sidewalls, so it feels a bit more inherently stable. It is not a stability shoe or even a stable neutral shoe, but it is better than the older version and a little less wobbly. The stack sits at 30 millimeters in the heel and 26 in the forefoot. The landing and compression feel similar to before: the foam compresses a lot, giving a surprising amount of ground feel, but this is not a minimal shoe by any means.
Things to Consider Before Buying
Durability is much improved. Large slabs of outsole rubber firm things up a teeny bit, but after 20 miles there is barely any wear, whereas the older version would have already ripped through part of the outsole. That means more miles for your money, even if the ride is slightly firmer.

The upper is thicker and snugger in the forefoot, with a slightly narrower fit. The midfoot and heel feel fairly normal, and lacing the shoe down tightly did not produce any slippage issues. The heel counter is thicker too, which some runners will welcome.
Buying Advice
For a shoe with a carbon-infused plate, the Razor 4 keeps a good amount of flexibility and rolls nicely off the toes. If you liked the essence of the older Razor but want better durability and a slightly more stable platform, this is a clear upgrade. Just expect a slightly firmer feel from the outsole rubber, especially early on.

Conclusion
The Skechers Go Run Razor 4 is a full refresh that keeps the spirit of the Razor line while addressing its weak spots. Better foam that improves over time, a more protected and durable outsole, and a snugger upper make it a stronger pick for up-tempo training days.
