OdinLake Ergo Pro Chair 743 Review: Premium Comfort Worth the Upgrade

A mesh ergonomic office chair with springy lumbar support, adjustable armrests, and an optional footrest that changes how you sit at your desk.

Introduction

Upgrading an office chair is one of those purchases that is easy to postpone. Most of us keep sitting on something worn out long past the point where it stops doing its job. That was exactly the situation with my old work chair: the cover had been peeling for years, leaving little black fragments on the floor and on my clothes. It was clearly time for something new.

The chair that ended up replacing it is the OdinLake Ergo Pro Chair 743, a mesh ergonomic chair positioned at a higher price point than the budget models I have usually bought. The question I wanted to answer was simple: does spending more actually buy you a meaningfully better chair? For me, the answer turned out to be yes, and here is why.

Unboxing and Assembly

Right from the box, the experience feels more considered than most chair deliveries. Every component arrived boxed, padded, or wrapped in bubble wrap, and the parts were organized rather than loosely tossed together. The user guide is clear, with large printed illustrations, and the screws are sorted into compartments labelled on the back so you never open the wrong one.

A couple of small touches stood out. The included Allen wrench has an actual handle instead of the usual bare L-shape, which meant I did not drop it once during assembly. A pair of gloves is also included, which sounds gimmicky but genuinely helped when handling small screws. Only two screws on the back of the chair were slightly awkward to reach, but otherwise assembly went smoothly.

Build Quality and Materials

This chair does not feel like corners were cut. There is an abundance of metal throughout, which gives it a solid, reassuring heft. The section where the base attaches to the back is a very thick piece of metal, and nothing about the frame feels loose or flimsy. On chairs I have owned before, everything tends to loosen up after a while; I do not foresee that happening here.

The wheels are decent rather than spectacular. If you roll around your space a lot, you might eventually consider upgrading the casters, but for a mostly stationary desk setup they are perfectly fine. The mesh back is also worth mentioning. I usually prefer pillowy chairs and was unsure how I would get along with mesh, but it is neither too firm nor scratchy. It is fairly soft, comfortable, and breathable.

Armrests and Adjustability

One of my favorite details is how the armrests behave. They adjust in several ways, but they hold their position firmly rather than drifting every time you brush against them. I have another chair at home where the slightest tap shifts the armrests sideways, and it drives me up the wall. This chair gets that balance right: adjustable when you want it to be, stable when you do not.

The backrest height is adjustable too, though the chair does not explain how. Raising it quickly just makes it slide back down. The trick is to lift it slowly: you will feel a series of click points, and if you stop at one, the back stays put. Once you know that, it works well, but it took me a while to figure out, and clearer instructions would be welcome.

Lumbar Support and Sitting Comfort

The lumbar support is the standout feature for me. Rather than feeling like a rock pressed against your lower back, it is springy. As you shift and adjust your position, the support moves with you, maintaining even pressure across your lower back.

An unexpected side effect: I tend to lean far back in chairs, but with this one I naturally find myself sitting more upright, which is genuinely more ergonomic. The mesh stays comfortable over long stretches, and the whole chair encourages better posture without feeling restrictive.

The Footrest: Worth Adding

OdinLake offers an optional footrest, and it is absolutely my favorite part of this chair. When not in use it folds neatly under the seat, but it deploys quickly and turns the chair into a proper reclining setup. I used to keep a box under my desk to raise my legs; that is no longer necessary, and this is significantly more comfortable.

I was worried the footrest would feel flimsy when extended, but the two metal bars underneath are very thick and the whole thing feels very solid. Long-term durability remains to be seen, but right now it is hard to imagine the chair without it. Between the chair and the footrest, this is a setup that makes long desk sessions noticeably easier on your body.

Buying Advice

The Ergo Pro Chair 743 is priced at $799, and the footrest adds roughly $70. The chair is best purchased directly from the OdinLake website, where discount codes are regularly available that can take over $100 off the combined price, effectively making the footrest free. The code applies to most chairs on the site, not just this model.

If you are coming from a chair in the $400 range like I was, the difference is noticeable. The materials, the fit and finish, and the overall feel are a clear step up. If you mostly sit upright for short periods, a cheaper chair may serve you fine. But if you spend long hours at a desk, want springy lumbar support, or love the idea of a proper footrest, this chair justifies the extra expense.

Conclusion

The OdinLake Ergo Pro Chair 743 answered the question I set out with: a more expensive chair can be worth it when it is built from quality parts and designed with genuine attention to detail. From the thoughtful packaging and handled Allen wrench to the springy lumbar support and rock-solid footrest, it delivers a premium experience that budget chairs do not match. Add the footrest, take advantage of any available discount, and this is a chair that should serve you well for a long time.
