Nitro Stiletto Review: A Limited Edition Swallow Tail Built for Powder Chasers
A 166 mid-wide directional swallow tail with cam-out camber that floats in powder, carves with surprising precision, and still pops off the tail.
Introduction
The Nitro Stiletto is a one-and-done release: a limited edition swallow tail produced for this season only. If you want one, the window to pick it up is now, and it is available exclusively in a 166 mid-wide size. That is a very specific board for a very specific rider, and after riding it on a proper powder day, the case for it is easy to understand.
The riding conditions say a lot about what this board is built for. It was tested at Copper Mountain after 12 inches fell overnight, with powder groomers, waist-deep snow beyond the access gates, choppier patches, and light winds. In other words, exactly the kind of day a pow-chasing freerider lives for.
First Impressions

The Stiletto uses Nitro’s cam-out camber, which is effectively a cam-rocker profile: camber through the middle with rocker in the tip and tail. You get the load, pop, snap, and drive of traditional camber, while the rocker sections ease turn entry and improve powder float. The shape is clearly directional, with a softer nose that progressively stiffens where the rocker meets the camber, then loosens slightly in the tail thanks to the swallow cutout.
Ride Feel and Stability
This board sits above middle of the road in flex without becoming a full-blown plank. The torsional flex is rigid, so it takes more effort to twist the board and ankle-steer it, but when you do aggressively twist it, it snaps back quickly.

Stability is a genuine strength. At speed on groomers, the tip flaps, but none of that vibration resonates back underfoot. The ride is smooth, consistent, and damp without feeling lifeless. Even porpoising through fresh snow at speed, the nose climbs on top and the board skips along with no kinetic vibration coming up through your feet.
Pop and Playfulness
For a 166, it takes surprisingly little effort to get this board in the air. Loading the camber section and rolling onto the tail produces a quick, clean pop, and there is none of the pop lag you might expect from a swallow tail.

There is play here too. The nose offers a solid platform for popping powder 180s, and the tail has enough give to press and hold, almost like an off-axis fork when you get sideways on an edge. One caution: if you try to engage both halves of the swallow tail at once, the inside edge can hook up and end your day abruptly. Know what you are doing and the board will pow butter, though the length takes some effort to work around, especially on the nose.
Carving Performance
Carving is where the Stiletto genuinely surprised. Most swallow tails tend to feel a little soggy out of the rear foot when you drive them; this one does not. There is a level of precision and power here that cuts through everything in its path, and once it is on edge, it runs like a torpedo.

A little speed goes a long way, though. Carving aggressively on lower-angle terrain at slower speeds takes more work, but with steeper terrain and more speed, you do not have to worry about it. Despite the rigid torsional flex, ankle steering is demanding without being punishing, and at 166 it was remarkably nimble in tight trees.
Buying Advice
This board is aimed squarely at the pow-chasing freerider who wants a limited edition swallow tail and knows exactly what they are getting and why. It floats well, carves well, pops well, and can be charged hard. Compared with a softer option in the same spirit, it is more stable at speed and more versatile as a powder-specific swallow tail.
Comparable boards worth cross-shopping include the Lib Sweetfish, the Borealis Leviathan, and the Amplid Snow Malier. If you are picking bindings, the Nitro Phantom Plus, Union Falcor, and Rome Katana Pro are sensible matches for a board like this.
Conclusion
The Nitro Stiletto is a genuinely fun, capable swallow tail that punches above what its 166 length suggests. It was hard to step off of: nimble in the trees, floaty in powder, precise on the carve, and quick to pop. As a limited edition release in a single size, it is a confident, specialized tool, and for the right rider it is an absolute blast.
