The directory paths also would not work until they were renamed to English. The driver had to be installed manually through the Device Manager, a process that feels dated, and the instructions were not entirely clear on that step.

Once the software and drivers were set up, everything ran smoothly. EasyCAD’s interface looks outdated, but it is intuitive enough for basic tasks like adding serial numbers or simple shapes. LightBurn worked without any issues during the material tests, though switching between the two programs requires uninstalling one driver and installing the other, which is a hassle. In practice, most users will likely pick one and stick with it.

Material Performance

The real test of any engraver is how it handles different materials. The Monport GQ 30 was put through a spread of engineering and craft materials, and the results were consistently strong.

The standout result was on black coated aluminum business card blanks, where a grayscale bitmap engraving produced a detailed, high-quality finish that looked impressive.

Across all tests, the machine performed as expected with no mechanical fussing required. The fan on the power supply is a little loud, but that is a minor point. The included foot pedal is a nice touch, letting you trigger the next engrave without touching the computer.
