Korua Shapes Dart Review: A Swallow Tail Built for Surfy Fun

A modern take on the classic swallow tail, the Korua Shapes Dart blends directional camber with a floating camber nose for grip on hard pack and float in deep snow.

Introduction

The Korua Shapes Dart is a modern twist on a classic swallow tail, promising surfy, fun turns. Tested in the north of Sweden on the 25/26 lineup, it is built around directional camber that flows into floating camber in the nose. After several days of riding everything from groomers to steep bowls, the short answer is that it delivers on its promise of fun.

What the Dart Is Designed to Do

The construction is straightforward but clever. Directional camber under the bindings gives really nice grip when carving, which makes it super nice on hard pack conditions. The float up in the nose helps out in deep snow and makes it easier to stay afloat.

The flex sits at medium stiffness, which makes initiating turns less difficult for a beginning rider, while staying playful for the advanced rider. And just looking at the shape, you can tell it is going to be a fun snowboard, from riding down the groomers at your local mountain to dropping into a steep bowl.

On Hard Pack and Carving

Out on steep, bumpy hard pack, the board held its line. It holds really well on the edge, and pushing it into smooth, aggressive carves felt like exactly what it was designed for. Despite the dramatic swallow tail, there was no sense of anything missing at the back. The tail is so short that it messes with your head a little at first, but you genuinely do not feel it once riding.

It cruises comfortably through variable terrain too. A first run through chop, moguls, ice and slush left a strong impression: super stable and super composed, even without a full-length tail.

Riding It in Powder and Variable Conditions

In powder, the board comes alive. It flies through the deep stuff and really wants to float, putting that big nose to good use. The turns feel out of this planet, and it glides beautifully with a smooth, almost special feel underfoot.

The riding style is a bit different from a traditional all-mountain board. Because the nose is so long, you have to shift your weight toward the front leg and leverage it for the full surfy turn. Riders used to weighting the back leg will need to adjust, but once you go with it whole-body, through the edge, it delivers that genuine surfing feeling.

Playfulness and That Surfy Riding Style

The nose is a little stiffer, and it gives you actual pop and power to play with. You can really lean on that nose and nollie it, and buttering and landing switch is fine despite there being barely any tail.

It is a board you want to make friends with: an all-rounder that lets you sink into the edge and enjoy that surfy moment, while still holding up when you push it hard on a carve.

Who Should Ride the Dart

The Dart suits riders who want a fun-first all-mountain board with a surfy character. Beginners get an easier time initiating turns thanks to the medium stiffness, while advanced riders get a playful, stable platform that floats in powder and grips on hard pack. If you prefer a freestyle-oriented stance with weight on the back foot, the front-loaded riding style may take some adaptation.

Conclusion

The Korua Shapes Dart is super surfy, really playful, and can take you anywhere on the mountain. It holds an edge better than its swallow tail suggests, floats with authority thanks to its big nose, and rewards a whole-body, front-foot riding style with turns that feel genuinely special. If fun is what you are shopping for, this board has it written all over it.
