Husky 6-in-1 Combination Stripper Pliers: A Budget Multi-Tool Worth a Spot in Your Truck Kit

Introduction

Hybrid combination stripper pliers have become one of the most interesting corners of the hand tool market. Klein, Milwaukee, and Ideal all have their own takes, and now Husky has entered the space with an 8-inch 6-in-1 model that sells at a price the others simply cannot match. At roughly $16 at retail, and around $12 on sale, it promises a lot of functionality for very little money.

This review looks at what it does well, where it falls short of the premium alternatives, and who should actually buy it.

What Husky’s 6-in-1 Can Do

Husky’s entry packs a generous feature set into one 8-inch tool. Up front there is a very fine needle-nose tip, finer than some of the more expensive competition, which makes precise work easier. Behind it you get reaming capability, stranded and solid wire stripping positions, a set of cutting knives, and dedicated bolt grabbing jaws near the pivot.

The bolt grabbing area is a thoughtful addition. Because angled jaws struggle to hold hex bolts, Husky placed a dedicated flat section near the pivot so the tool can still turn hardware when needed. It also includes 6-32 and 8-32 bolt cutting positions and a crimper, so the feature list covers most small electrical and automotive jobs.

Cutting Performance

This is where the price difference shows. The Husky’s cutting knives are straight, so cutting a spread-out bundle of stranded wire tends to become a cut-and-pull affair. On a larger 10 AWG stranded wire, the tool can manage it with two hands and careful strand alignment, but it takes noticeably more effort.

The competing Milwaukee model handles the same wire one-handed, effortlessly, thanks partly to a better cutting angle and curved blades that draw the strands together for a clean slice. Klein’s version also cut without complaint, while the larger Ideal struggled on the same test.

Most of the time this gap will not matter. But if you cut stranded automotive wire regularly, the smoother action of the pricier tools is worth experiencing before you decide.

Things to Consider Before Buying

The 8-inch length gives plenty of leverage, which is a plus for grip and general use. The tool is spring-loaded, which is convenient at the bench but worth noting: spring-loaded pliers stored in a truck through hard weather can eventually have trouble with those springs.

The Husky carries the brand’s warranty, and the overall build feels fairly solid for the money. However, if you expect to use this tool heavily and constantly, the premium alternatives around $23 on sale (and larger Milwaukee models at $29) are the safer long-term pick.

Buying Advice

For the price, this is a genuinely worthwhile tool, especially on sale. It fits naturally into a truck tool kit or an overlanding kit, where you want capable multi-function tools without spending premium money on gear that sits in the vehicle most of the year.

If you need specialty pliers for daily home use, look at the higher-end options instead, since they cut stranded wire noticeably better and are built for constant use. But as an affordable, solid, do-everything companion for the road, Husky’s 6-in-1 is definitely something to keep an eye out for.

Conclusion

Husky’s 6-in-1 combination stripper pliers deliver an impressive feature set, a genuinely fine needle-nose tip, and an honest price. It cannot match the effortless cutting of the Milwaukee and Klein hybrids, but for occasional use in a vehicle kit, it makes a lot of sense.
