Hupar W04CG 3-Axis Laser Level Review: A Clever Upgrade for DIY and Site Work
The Hupar W04CG adds an LCD angle readout, touch-controlled rotation, remote and app control, and dual USB-C charging to the familiar three-axis laser level formula.
Introduction
Most three-axis laser levels do much the same job, which is exactly why it can be hard to justify an upgrade. The Hupar W04CG stands out because it adds genuinely useful features that are usually reserved for far more expensive professional units: a digital angle display, touch-controlled line rotation, a remote control, and phone app control.
After years of holding off, this is the level that finally felt worth the money, and it is easy to explain why.
What the Hupar W04CG Includes
The core formula is familiar: three axes means a line in each direction, but this unit actually projects four lines, with two horizontal lines, one at the top and one at the bottom. The bottom line sits close to the floor, roughly 18 to 20 mm off the ground, which is ideal for flooring or tiling work where you need a reference right at floor level.

The accessories are practical rather than filler. You get a lanyard for securing the unit at height so it cannot fall and break, a magnetic fine-adjustment clamp that attaches to anything metal with a fine vertical adjustment and a lock, a target plate, and a small lift table for using the level on a bench or on the floor.
The unit itself is IP54 rated, and the green lines are 1 mm in width with an accuracy of plus or minus 3 mm at 10 m distance.
Battery and Charging Done Properly
One standout detail is the external battery, which typically lasts a full working day. Spare batteries cost around £30, so anyone using the level daily can simply clip in a second battery and keep working continuously.
Charging is unusually well thought out. You can charge through the standard USB-C socket on top of the battery, and a cable and USB-C charger are included. More usefully, if the battery dies mid-job, you can plug a USB-C cable directly into a secondary socket on the unit itself. That not only powers the level, it charges the battery at the same time, so you can keep working instead of stopping to wait.
A Digital Display That Shows the Angle
Like any three-axis laser level, the W04CG self-levels using a pendulum system on each lens, released by a single switch. The digital display then shows which lasers are active, and you can cycle each horizontal and vertical line on and off individually.

The display also shows the unit’s level in X and Y, in degrees, which is something rarely seen on consumer laser levels. If the unit tips beyond three degrees, it beeps to warn you it is reaching its limit.
Even better, with the pendulum locked, a long press of the power button switches to angled mode. You can then set the laser lines at any angle you want, and the screen tells you exactly what angle you are projecting in both directions. For landscaping work that needs a specific fall or slope, you can dial in the exact angle instead of guessing, which most domestic levels simply cannot do.
Touch, Remote, and App Control
Fine adjustment usually stops at up-and-down movement, but lining up a vertical line with a pencil mark on the wall often demands left-and-right adjustment too. The W04CG solves this by actually rotating, and there are three ways to control that rotation.

On top of the unit are touch-sensitive buttons that respond to a light tap, much like a phone screen. Rotation speed has three settings: fast for getting close to your mark, medium for slowing down, and speed one for very fine movement that lets you sneak up on the exact position.
The included remote control mirrors the same speed settings, so you can stand at the wall you are marking rather than the laser and make micro adjustments from the business end. Anyone who has spent minutes nudging a level from 3 m away, only to see it jump inches with every touch, will appreciate how much setup time this saves.
There is also a phone app that controls everything: individual lasers on and off, rotation at high, medium, or low speed, and brightness adjustment for working in dim or very bright conditions. In practice, the remote is likely to be the everyday choice, as it does everything without opening an app.
Outdoor Use and Visibility
Like all class 2 laser levels, the green beam is clear and strong but limited to a maximum of one milliwatt for safety. That means no laser level in this class is genuinely visible in daylight. Outdoors, you need a detector instead: put the level into pulse mode, sweep the detector up and down until it finds the line, and it signals with a constant tone when you are centred, working in both horizontal and vertical orientations.

Range is generous for the price class. The unit comfortably works at 15 to 25 m, making it well suited to garden landscaping, extensions, and similar projects.
Buying Advice
The Hupar W04CG is easy to recommend to anyone doing flooring, tiling, landscaping, or extension work who wants more than the basics. The angle display and rotating vertical lines are features that genuinely save time, and the dual USB-C charging removes the classic mid-job battery headache. If you work outdoors regularly, budget for a separate detector as well, since no laser in this class is daylight-visible.
Conclusion
The Hupar W04CG proves that the three-axis laser level category still has room for meaningful improvement. Between the digital angle readout, three-speed touch rotation, remote and app control, and swap-and-charge battery system, it delivers pro-level conveniences at a consumer-friendly position. For DIY enthusiasts and small-scale builders, it is a strong pick.
