Harbor Freight Black Friday Tool Deals Worth a Look: 8 Picks From the Aisles

From Bauer's modular storage system to Icon dead blow hammers and Hercules Ultra Torque, a hands-on walkthrough of the tool deals and hidden gems to watch this Black Friday season.

Workshop tools including a storage case, wrenches, drill, and hammers arranged on concrete

Introduction

Black Friday season is when the tool aisles get interesting, and a walk through the store turned up a mix of advertised deals, quiet quality picks, and clearance finds worth knowing about. Some of these are outright bargains, others are simply well-made tools that hold their own against bigger names, and a few are the kind of back-shelf surprises that reward anyone willing to dig a little.

A quick note on one headline deal: a Hercules promotion starting at 45 dollars includes a free 2.5 amp hour battery on select cordless tools, covering the impact driver, hammer drill, and standard drill. Just remember the charger is sold separately, so factor that into the total.

Bauer Modular Storage System

Every major brand seems to have a modular storage line now, and Bauer’s entry is priced very much in line with the competition. In hand, the quality sits on par with a lot of other brands: a large metal latch feels classic and solid, the inside is lined, and there is a visible seal around the edge. That seal adds extra waterproofing and dust protection, which is exactly what you want from stackable cases that live in a truck bed or a damp garage.

The pricing is okay rather than spectacular, so this is less of a deal and more of a sensible buy if you are starting a storage system anyway.

Bauer Router

The Bauer router had not been seen in person before, and first impressions are strong. It feels chunky and really solid, with a nicely shaped handle and a rubberized grip that makes one-handed work feel confident. It is not clear whether it borrows from another brand’s design or is something entirely new from Bauer, but the build impression is genuinely good.

If you have been waiting for a budget-friendly router that does not feel cheap, this one is worth a hands-on look.

Bauer Reciprocating Saw and SDS Hammer Drill

Two more Bauer tools deserve a mention. The reciprocating saw is a monster: possibly the largest one-handed model around, with a massive body and a speed trigger with a positive click. One caveat: no variable speed trigger, so check whether that matters for your cutting style before buying.

The Bauer SDS hammer drill also carries the usual mode selection you would expect, though again the trigger is not variable speed. Still, for occasional masonry and demolition work, the feature set looks complete on paper.

Icon Ratcheting Wrenches

No deals on Icon gear were showing up yet, but that hardly matters here. The Icon ratcheting wrenches are a long-standing favorite, good enough that four sets already live in a US General toolbox. They are simply awesome, and if you are building out a mechanic’s tool drawer, they remain one of the easiest recommendations in the whole store.

Watch for Icon promotions later in the season, because they rarely stay full price through Black Friday.

Doyle Pliers: Groove Joint, Diagonal Cutters, and Tweezers

Doyle occupies that middle ground: still a good value, with tools that are better than the price suggests. The groove joint pliers are a staple, the diagonal cutting pliers are a personal favorite, and the whole line is honestly a bit underrated.

The standout is the five-inch tweezer pliers, an ultra-precision little cutter that is awesome for fine work. Better still, they carry a lifetime warranty. If you are buying tweezers for any reason, these deserve a serious look.

Daytona Floor Jacks

Floor jacks are not an everyday purchase, but walking past the Daytona section is always a treat. These are some beautiful jacks, finished well and clearly designed to be admired as much as used. Even someone who already owns a few at home admits to being tempted.

If a jack is on your list this season, Daytona’s lineup is the section to linger in.

Pittsburgh Tape Measures

When it comes to tape measures, the regular Pittsburgh models remain the pick. They are constantly covered by free coupons, they carry a lifetime warranty, and breaking one is no drama: two or so have broken over the years and every one was replaced without fuss.

The premium power tape measures get expensive, and while the Hercules versions borrow styling cues from the newer Dewalt and Milwaukee designs, the price stings. Milwaukee’s own tape measures are famously hit or miss, so for pure value the plain Pittsburgh still wins.

Icon Dead Blow Hammers

The new Icon dead blow hammers land at around 60 dollars, which is a little pricey, but the lifetime warranty softens the blow. The regular dead blows at 30 dollars are the better value: not a bad price for professional-quality hammers, available in several sizes including 24, 40, and 48 ounces.

For automotive work, engine swaps, and anything where you want impact without marring, a good dead blow is a toolbox essential.

Hercules Ultra Torque and Other Clearance Finds

The back clearance section is always worth a sweep, and this trip delivered. A Hercules Ultra Torque impact wrench sat on the shelf at 159 dollars, a full 20 dollars off, reason for the markdown unclear but likely worth checking out for anyone in the market.

Other clearance finds included a bench vise, a barely used welder, a McGraw air compressor, a belt sander, a chainsaw sharpener for 27 dollars that reportedly works decently, and assorted socket sets, chargers, and a power inverter. A 12V Chicago Electric cordless impact driver at 49 dollars also turned up, not a great deal, but a fun reminder of the brand’s cordless past. A 20 or 22 ton Pittsburgh or Daytona jack at 95 dollars rounded things out as a genuinely interesting price.

Air Tools and Cordless Ratchets

Air tools remain quietly underrated at this store. The Earthquake XT air ratchets come in a couple of colorways and do the job without fanfare.

Lesser known: Hercules makes cordless ratchets too, all 12 volts, competing directly with the Milwaukee stuff. For anyone building a Hercules battery platform, that is a useful alternative to buying into another ecosystem.

The Clearance Section Is Still Gold

Beyond the specific finds above, the lesson is simple: always check the back clearance area. Purple tags mean clearance, and there is always something interesting hiding there, from vises to welders to orphaned power tools. The deals are inconsistent, but the hunt is half the fun.

Storage and Shop Furniture

The US General tool carts continue to impress. No cart is currently in use at home, but if one were being bought, the new grey version with the blacked-out logos is the pick: a really cool design, a really cool color scheme, and a style that looks far more expensive than it is.

Combined with the Daytona and Icon creepers, both brand new with a carbon-fiber look and at least some cushioning on the padding, the shop furniture side of the store is stronger than ever.

Conclusion

This season’s haul is a reminder that the best tool buys are not always the loudest deals. The Hercules battery promotion is a genuine bargain if you remember the charger, Bauer’s storage and router show the budget brand maturing, Icon and Doyle keep delivering on quality per dollar, and the clearance shelves reward patience. Prioritize the tools you will actually use, check the lifetime warranties, and do not skip the back of the store on your way out.
