EGO 765 CFM Cordless Blower Review: Gas-Backpack Force, Battery Convenience

EGO's 765 CFM cordless blower pairs a variable speed trigger and cruise control with measured blowing force that rivals gas backpack blowers.

Introduction

Cordless blower makers have been pushing performance limits for years, and EGO has tended to lead the pack. The EGO 765 CFM cordless blower is the latest in EGO’s line, and it is aimed squarely at anyone who wants the blowing force of a gas backpack blower without the fuel, fumes, or pull cord.

Who This Product Is For

This blower makes sense for homeowners and professionals with substantial clearing work who want battery convenience without giving up real power. If your typical job involves heavy, wet debris or large paved areas, the 765 CFM output and turbo mode put it in territory most handheld cordless blowers do not reach.

Design and Controls

The primary control is a variable speed trigger, and there is also a cruise control dial that gives your finger some relief during extended use. One nice thing about EGO’s cruise control design is that you can adjust speed on the fly with one hand.

Because the cruise control dial sits on the left side, it is easiest to operate if you are right handed, and it can be a little more challenging for left-handed users, a trait shared with some other EGO blowers.

Runtime and Battery

A turbo button immediately kicks the brushless motor into high gear for maximum airflow. The power boost is impressive, but it will cut into your run time, so use it judiciously.

EGO advertises 25 minutes of run time on high and 15 minutes in turbo mode with a fully charged 5 amp hour battery. In-house testing came up slightly short of those numbers, at 22 minutes 2 seconds on high and 13 minutes 5 seconds in turbo. Either way, plan your sessions around those figures rather than expecting all-day clearing from one charge.

Blowing Power and Newton Force

The headline specifications are 765 CFM and 200 miles per hour, which are eye-popping on paper. Newton force, however, paints the best picture of real blowing performance. Measured with a 5 amp hour battery installed, this blower hit 15.9 newtons of force, and turbo mode pushed it to a peak of 25.3 newtons.

With a 10 amp hour battery, testing peaked at 26.1 newtons, so technically it can reach the 26-newton peak EGO claims. Take that number with a grain of salt, though, because realistically you will not want to add that much extra weight to the end of the blower for a minimal power boost.

Noise was a pleasant surprise: measured at the operator’s ear, it registered 76 decibels on high and 80 decibels in turbo mode, which is quiet for the amount of power this model provides.

Pricing, Warranty, and What’s in the Box

The kit includes the blower, a 5 amp hour battery, EGO’s Power Plus charger, and both a tapered and a wide fan nozzle. It runs $329 at Lowe’s, and there is also an option that adds a second 5 amp hour battery for $449.

Coverage is solid: a 5-year tool warranty and a 3-year battery warranty.

Buying Advice

If you want the benefits of a battery-powered blower with the blowing force of a gas backpack blower, the EGO 765 CFM is exactly what you need. When it comes to blowing performance, no other brand can currently match it in this space, and EGO clearly leads the pack.

If the single 5 amp hour battery runtime feels tight for your property, the two-battery kit is worth considering at $449. Left-handed buyers should also try the cruise control dial placement before committing.

Conclusion

The EGO 765 CFM cordless blower delivers backpack-level blowing force in a handheld battery platform, with measured peak force that backs up its headline specs, surprisingly quiet operation, and a strong warranty. For anyone ready to move off gas without moving down in power, it is an easy recommendation.
