CES 2026 brought a wave of new projector announcements, and this year’s lineup is more competitive than ever. From high-brightness standard throw models to feature-packed ultra-short-throw projectors, there is a lot to consider for anyone planning a home theater upgrade. XG Titan: A Bright Standard Throw Option

The XG Titan is now officially on sale, having launched on January 5th. Originally positioned more toward commercial use, it has several features that make it an appealing choice for home theater, especially for those planning a very large screen. XG advertises the Titan at 5,000 lumens, and unlike many brightness claims, this figure is achievable in its most color-accurate modes. In less accurate modes, the Titan can reach close to 8,000 ANSI lumens.

This performance is made possible by a larger 0.78-inch DLP chip from Texas Instruments, which they call the HP or high-efficiency pixel. This chip allows for much brighter lasers with better thermal management. The Titan also includes optical zoom with a 1.2 to 1.8:1 throw ratio, 40% horizontal and 100% vertical lens shift, and a dual laser light source instead of a pure RGB laser, which helps reduce laser speckle and metamerism related to mild color blindness.

At a price of $3,999, the Titan is surprisingly affordable for a projector that can deliver 5,000 color-accurate ANSI lumens. It is currently the only projector in this roundup that you can buy today.

XG Titan Noir Max: Aiming for Deeper Blacks

For those who were hoping the Titan would include an iris to improve native contrast, XG also debuted the Titan Noir Max. This model is advertised at 4,000 lumens, though it is unclear if that brightness will be achievable in the most color-accurate modes or only in a performance mode. The Titan Noir uses the new Texas Instruments 0.47-inch SST DMD, which allows for much higher brightness than the older 0.47-inch TRP chip.

The Titan Noir is named after the French word for black, reflecting its goal of achieving extremely low black levels. It uses both a dynamic iris system and XG’s dynamic laser dimming, which they call dynamic black level enhancement, or DBLE. XG lists the native contrast at 10,000:1, though that figure likely requires the iris clamped all the way down, which would not allow for the full 4,000 lumens simultaneously.

The performance of the Titan Noir will hinge on how effective the dynamic iris and dynamic laser dimming systems are in practice. At CES, only the dynamic iris was running, and the black levels were very good with minimal iris artifacts, which is encouraging at this early stage of development. Similar to the Horizon 20 series, the Titan Noir will be released in three versions, likely called the Noir, Noir Pro, and Noir Max. They are expected to hit Kickstarter in February with early bird pricing, though no official prices were available yet.

JMGO N3 Ultimate: Flexible Placement and Portability

JMGO will release the N3 Ultimate in Q2 of 2026. Pricing is not finalized, but the N3 Ultimate will be the most powerful version of JMGO’s triple laser light source yet, outputting between 5,000 and 5,500 ANSI lumens. The N3 Ultimate focuses on maximum flexibility in placement, including optical zoom with a 0.88 to 1.70:1 throw ratio, 53% horizontal lens shift, and 130% vertical lens shift.

In addition to those lossless position adjustments, the N3 Ultimate will have a motorized rotating gimbal. Combined with its front-facing cameras, it can save different screen positions. If you want to move the N3 Ultimate from room to room, you can set it down in the same general area and press the save screen position preset, and it will use its gimbal, lens shift, and optical zoom to put the projected screen back in the same spot.

Unlike most of the other flagship projectors announced at CES, the N3 Ultimate will not have dynamic laser dimming or an iris. It is mostly focused on the lifestyle projector consumer who wants a semi-portable unit with high ease of use. It is expected for a Q2 release with no official pricing yet.

Dang S8 Ultra Max: Extreme Specs, Uncertain Timing

The Dang S8 Ultra Max is perhaps the most extreme projector announced at CES, but also the most uncertain. Dang says the S8 Ultra Max will have 6,200 lumens, 8,000:1 native contrast, a six-blade iris, dynamic laser dimming, optical zoom with a 0.98 to 1.6:1 throw ratio, and an undisclosed amount of horizontal and vertical lens shift. It will also have an RGB laser light source.

While not officially confirmed, it is likely using the new 0.47-inch SST chip, as 6,200 lumens would be too much for the older TRP chip. The S8 Ultra Max is similar to the S7 Ultra Max, which is made exclusively for the Chinese market, but it adds horizontal and vertical lens shift, extra brightness, and a Google TV operating system. Like the S7, the S8 will have liquid cooling to allow for more strategic placement of fans and better heat dissipation for the optical block.

The S7 Ultra Max has a motorized gimbal allowing for rotation and tilt, and that feature is also expected to make it into the S8 Ultra Max. Unofficially, the S8 Ultra Max is expected to retail around $3,000, with a target release date of Q4 2026. The pricing seemed more certain than the release date.

Hisense XR10: A Standard Throw Powerhouse

Hisense debuted the XR10, which is essentially the international version of the Hisense C5 Boundless Master recently released in China. The XR10, which Hisense calls the apex of projection, has impressive specs, including 6,000 ANSI lumens, 6,000:1 native contrast using its iris, and laser dimming with Hisense scenario enhancement. It also has a massive optical zoom range, with a minimum throw of 0.84:1 and a maximum of 2.0:1, combined with 46% horizontal lens shift and 130% vertical lens shift.

The XR10 is confirmed to use the new Texas Instruments 0.47-inch SST chip to support the brightness from its RGB laser light source. Like the Dang, the XR10 will include a closed-loop liquid cooling system to move heat away from the optical block. This does not mean it is fanless, but it should have significantly reduced fan noise by allowing for more strategic fan placement and better airflow design.

Two things were notably absent from the XR10’s announcements: input lag values and the built-in operating system. The lack of input lag advertisement suggests they may be using the more traditional double-buffer controller architecture. While Hisense has traditionally used Google TV for US projectors, it seems they might be switching to Vidaa OS this year, though there is no official word yet. The XR10 is expected in Q2 of 2026 with no official pricing available.

Hisense PX4 Pro: Refining a Proven Formula

Moving to ultra-short-throw projectors, Hisense unveiled the PX4 Pro, which builds on the success of the PX3 Pro. Compared to the PX3 Pro, the PX4 gets an extra 1,000 lumens from its pure RGB laser light source, up to 3,500 lumens max. It gets a multi-level iris that raises the native contrast up to a maximum of 6,000:1, and it uses the new Texas Instruments DLPC8445 controller that enables one-millisecond input lag measurements thanks to the rolling buffer. It will also support VRR and FreeSync.

One big change for US users is the switch from Google TV on the PX3 Pro to Vidaa on the PX4 Pro. Hisense says this will enable better performance out of the hardware, as well as offer new integrations with Xbox that would not be available with Google TV. The PX4 Pro is expected in Q2 of 2026, with no official pricing available at the show.

AWOL Vision Aetherion Max: Reclaiming the Ultra-Short-Throw Crown

AWOL Vision, the company behind the Valerion Vision Master projectors, is getting back to its roots with a new ultra-short-throw projector called the Aetherion Max. AWOL’s LTV-3500 Pro dominated the early days of ultra-short-throw projection, and the Aetherion is poised to reclaim that position with 3,300 ANSI lumens, 6,000:1 native contrast thanks to its seven-blade iris, and up to 60,000:1 dynamic contrast, leaning on Valerion’s enhanced black-level dynamic laser dimming.

The Aetherion will also adopt Valerion’s anti-RBE laser sequencing. Unlike the Valerion, the Aetherion will use the new rolling buffer architecture from Texas Instruments, which supports one-millisecond input lag, VRR, and FreeSync. No official shipping date is available yet, but they are offering early bird pricing at $2,199 with a deposit, which seems remarkably low for this level of performance. The MSRP after release is expected to be $4,499.

Nexigo Aurora Pro MK3: Unique Features and Firmware Updates

The biggest surprise at CES 2026 was the Nexigo Aurora Pro MK3. The MK2 is already one of the most unique and highest-performing ultra-short-throw projectors on the market, combining an ALPD laser light source with Nexigo’s scene adapt engine. It uses dynamic iris and dynamic dimming to offer a mix of bright, vibrant scenes and strong dark scene performance.

Compared to the MK2, the MK3 features upgraded laser diodes, adding 600 lumens for a total of 3,000. Nexigo also upgraded both the laser dimming controller and the motor for the dynamic iris, with the intention of offering a more refined dynamic laser dimming solution with their scene adapt engine 2.0. In addition to still being the only US model on the market with a dynamic iris, Nexigo announced two other features that will be included on the MK3 and added to the MK2 via firmware.

The first is called virtual masking, which allows you to crop and position a projected image either all the way to the top of the screen or all the way to the bottom, instead of having it in the middle with black bars at both top and bottom. This allows you to only extend your floor-rising or drop-down screen to the size of the actual content, leaving the black bars to cast onto a non-reflective surface, which significantly increases perceived contrast. The second feature is a new subtitle optimization mode that ignores the brightness of subtitles when doing dynamic dimming calculations, allowing for the use of subtitles with minimal effect on dynamic contrast.

Nexigo is targeting Q3 for the release of the Aurora Pro MK3. They specifically mentioned wanting it to be perfect at the time of release, unlike the MK2, which was shipped to early adopters and then gradually updated over six months. There was no word on official pricing yet.

Arzen Zip: 3D Projection Mapping in a Pocket

Totally shifting gears, Arzen was showing off a feature that stands out from the rest. Their Arzen Zip, an ultra-portable wireless battery-powered projector with 720p resolution and 100 lumens, now supports 3D projection mapping directly in the Arzen app. This allows you to project into corners and onto multiple surface types while maintaining the correct screen dimensions and angles on each one.

The best part is that this feature is currently available for free in the Arzen app. It is an ideal application for one of these pico projectors, with tons of potential use cases for content creation or just decoration. This is definitely a case where you would not necessarily want or need a full-size projector.

If you want a projector today, the XG Titan is the only one currently available, offering impressive brightness at a competitive price. For those willing to wait, the XG Titan Noir Max promises deeper blacks with its dynamic iris and laser dimming, though its performance is still being refined.

For maximum placement flexibility and portability, the JMGO N3 Ultimate is a strong contender with its gimbal and saved screen positions. The Dang S8 Ultra Max and Hisense XR10 push brightness and contrast to new levels, though both are expected later in the year. In the ultra-short-throw category, the Hisense PX4 Pro refines a proven formula, while the AWOL Vision Aetherion Max and Nexigo Aurora Pro MK3 bring unique features like advanced iris systems and virtual masking.
