Adidas Adizero Adios 3 Long-Term Review: Still Fresh After 200 Miles

A running shoe that keeps its cushioning well beyond the 200-mile mark, with an accommodating forefoot fit and a $150 price that is hard to beat.

Introduction

Some shoes earn a second pair, and this is one of them. The adidas Adizero Adios 3 was initially positioned as something between lifestyle and running, but in practice it is a straight-up running shoe, and a genuinely good one. After well over 100 miles on the first pair, plus a second pair bought with our own money to compare, the picture is clear: this shoe has barely lost anything.

Cushioning and Foam

The Adizero Adios 3 uses the Light Strike Pro foam from the generation before the newer Light Strike Pro 4 formulation. It is the same foam found in the Adizero Adios 3 racing lineup, and the ride holds up remarkably well. The cushioning feels nearly perfect from heel to toe: there is a soft, protective squish under the forefoot and a stable, comfortable feel through the heel.

To test how the foam ages, we compared a pair with around 200 miles on it against a brand-new pair. The new pair has a little more pop out of the box, but the worn pair feels similar. The cushioning has not died out the way premium foams often do when reviewers say they are only meant for a limited number of miles.

Durability After 200 Miles

The outsole has aged gracefully. The higher-abrasion rubber at the rear shows no peeling and no thinning, and the critical zones are still in good shape. The foam shows only cosmetic issues: some creasing on the side of the Light Strike Pro midsole, which appeared within the first 25 miles, and a small amount of chipping where the foam meets the rubber. Neither affects performance.

The upper is holding up well too. There are no holes, only light wear on the exposed top area, and the outsole is still in really good condition. With a cleanup, the shoe could look close to new again. For a shoe that costs $150 and still feels almost as fresh as a new pair at around 200 miles, that durability is the standout story here.

Fit and Sizing

The forefoot has plenty of room. If you prefer a narrow fit, you may find it generous, but most runners will appreciate the space, and even runners with wider feet will find the fit accommodating. Lacing it a bit tighter keeps everything secure, which makes the roomier forefoot work for a range of foot shapes.

Buying Advice

It is hard to find something to dislike about the Adizero Adios 3. The main trade-off is the roomy forefoot, and that is really a nitpick that only affects runners who want a narrower last. At $150, with foam that retains most of its cushioning well past 200 miles, the value proposition is difficult to beat.

Conclusion

The adidas Adizero Adios 3 is a running shoe first and foremost, with near-perfect heel-to-toe cushioning, a durable outsole, and an upper that survives honest mileage. It still feels fun after 200 miles, and at its price it is going to be hard to beat.
