Wit Sunday Instant Setup Tent Review: A $90 Instant Shelter Built for Calm Weather

A budget instant setup tent with standout ventilation and a genuine three-person footprint, but untaped seams and a very small fly limit where it can be used.

Introduction

The Wit Sunday Instant Setup Tent is an instant-pitch shelter that arrived at a $90 price with a feature list that reads better than most tents in that bracket. It carries two large mesh panels across the roof, two doors, two windows and four awnings, and it folds down surprisingly small for a tent of its footprint. It also arrives with several manufacturer claims that do not survive a close look.

This review covers what the tent actually delivers, where it falls short, and the specific way it makes the most sense to use.

Who This Tent Is For

This shelter is aimed at warm-weather car campers who want a large, airy space that goes up in seconds. It suits late spring, summer and early fall trips where the forecast is settled and the site is sheltered. The doors are wide and the bathtub floor is shallow rather than aggressive, which makes entry and exit easier for campers with mobility concerns.

It is not a backpacking tent. At 10 lb (roughly 4.5 kg), the weight rules out long carries, and the instant-pitch frame is designed around convenience rather than packability on trail.

It is also not a storm shelter. The manufacturer describes it as a four-season tent, but the construction points clearly to warm-weather use only. Taken as a calm-condition car camping tent, the design makes a lot more sense than the marketing does.

What Comes in the Box

The package includes the storage bag, which has two grab handles and a zipper, along with the tent body, a fly, a pole bag, a stake bag and a cordage bag. The stake bag holds ten shepherd hook tent stakes and the cordage bag contains six guidelines.

The pole bag contains four pole sections that assemble into two poles. Those poles are enough to prop up one awning on the back of the tent. The materials list fiberglass poles, and the tent body feels like an inexpensive polyester rather than the nylon the manufacturer names.

Main Strengths

Generous Interior Space

The manufacturer calls this a two-person tent. It is not. Measured up, the floor is 78.7 inches long and 78.7 inches wide with a peak height of 59 inches, which is enough room for three sleeping pads side by side plus gear. You cannot stand upright inside, but you can move around hunched over without feeling cramped.

For a $90 shelter, the interior volume is the headline feature. Two adults and a dog, or three campers sharing the space, will find it comfortable rather than tight.

Ventilation and Bug Protection

This is where the tent genuinely stands out. Two large mesh panels sit across the roof, and the side windows and doors are mesh-backed as well. Each door uses a three-way zipper arranged in an inverted T formation, and every panel can be tied up out of the way when you want maximum airflow.

With the doors and windows open in combination, the tent moves air extremely well for its size. Every opening can also be sealed, which keeps insects out when the mesh is doing the work instead of the fabric.

Setup Speed and Packed Size

Setup is the other clear win. The instant frame goes up in seconds, and breaking it down is just as simple. Staking out the tent and adding an awning takes another minute or two at most.

Packed, the tent measures 30 inches by 9 by 6 inches. That is a small package for a shelter with this much interior space, and it makes the tent easy to store between trips or load alongside other car camping gear.

Things to Consider Before Buying

Weather Protection Limits

None of the seams are taped, and the fly is a very small piece of fabric that covers only the top of the tent. The manufacturer claims a 1500 mm hydrostatic head rating and describes the tent as waterproof. That claim is difficult to accept given the untaped seams and the minimal fly coverage.

Treat this as a water-resistant shelter at best. In light rain it may stay dry, but it is not a tent to rely on in sustained or heavy weather, and it is not built for wind exposure either.

Interior Reflective Coating

The inside of the tent is lined with a silver metallic reflective material. The manufacturer says this coating reduces interior temperatures and makes the tent resistant to hot weather. Reflective coatings work by bouncing heat away, and the same material is used on emergency tarps for exactly that purpose. Applied to the inside of a tent wall, it reflects heat back inward instead of outward.

In practice this matters less than it sounds. The interior is large enough that you are not pressed against the walls, and the ventilation is strong enough that heat does not build up. The coating is best treated as a non-feature rather than a reason to buy.

Accessory Gaps

The pole set only covers one awning, even though the tent has awnings on both doors and both windows. There are also only six guidelines in the box, which is not enough to stake out every awning and window at once. If you want the full configuration, plan on adding poles and extra cordage.

Buying Advice

The honest case for this tent is as part of a larger shelter system rather than a standalone purchase. Pitched underneath a large tarp, the tent becomes genuinely useful. The tarp handles rain and wind, while the tent delivers a bug-proof, well-ventilated, generously sized living space that goes up in seconds.

That combination covers the most common camping scenario: a forecast that turns wet and a trip that would otherwise be cancelled. If you already carry a tarp, or you are willing to add one, the $90 price becomes much easier to justify. If you need a single tent that stands alone in poor weather, this is not the right choice.

Conclusion

The Wit Sunday Instant Setup Tent gets the fundamentals of a warm-weather car camping shelter right. It is large, it breathes exceptionally well, it goes up almost instantly, and it packs down small. What it does not do is keep out serious weather, and the untaped seams and undersized fly make that clear.

Buy it for calm, dry, warm trips, or buy it as the inner layer of a tarp setup. Used that way, it is a lot of interior space and ventilation for the money.
