Introduction
The Flex 12-inch cordless miter saw is a brand new release that stands out immediately for one reason: it can run either on Flex’s stacked lithium batteries or, with an optional AC adapter sold separately, straight from a wall outlet. That second option means you don’t even have to be invested in the Flex battery platform to use this saw.
In use, it cuts smoothly on both battery and plug-in power, and the dust collection system is among the most effective we have seen on a miter saw in this class. There are a couple of design gripes worth knowing about, but overall this is a well-thought-out machine with several features competitors haven’t managed to match.
Who This Product Is For
This saw makes sense for two groups. First, users already on the Flex stacked lithium platform who want a capable miter saw that runs off their existing batteries. Second, anyone who wants a battery-capable miter saw without buying into a battery platform at all, thanks to the separately sold AC power adapter.
If you work close to a wall, note that this saw uses a rail system rather than an articulating arm. That isn’t a problem for most setups, but it’s worth considering if rear clearance is tight in your shop.
What’s in the Box
The kit includes a dust collection setup, a material clamp, and a 62-tooth thin kerf blade. Everything arrived completely square out of the box, though as with any miter saw, it’s worth double-checking your own unit’s alignment before making finish cuts.
The extension supports slide out and lock with heavy-duty clips that feel built to last, and you can adjust them longer or shorter as your workpiece demands.

One thoughtful detail: a spindle stop locks the blade in place for changes, so you don’t have to hold a button while swapping blades. Flip it back up and the blade spins freely again. It’s a small touch, but it makes blade changes less fiddly.
Battery and AC Adapter Power
The saw accepts Flex stacked lithium packs, including the larger 10Ah battery, which mounts on the rear of the saw. Starting works like most saws: a safety switch plus trigger. If the trigger does nothing, a blinking indicator tells you the spindle lock is engaged, so you flip it back up and you’re moving again.
The headline feature is the optional AC power adapter, sold separately, rated at 2,000 watts and 24 volts. Because the adapter is available on its own, you can run this saw plugged in without owning any other Flex tool.

For anyone worried about an AC adapter pushing a saw too hard, there are two points of reassurance. First, these tools were designed from the ground up around stacked lithium packs, which Flex states deliver more power than cylindrical-cell batteries and cool faster, so the saws were built to take that output. Second, the stacked lithium battery is rated at 3,000 watts maximum continuous discharge, comfortably above the adapter’s 2,000-watt rating. And Flex backs tools with a lifetime warranty on tools registered from 2024 onward, covering repair or replacement if anything goes wrong.
One compatibility note: this battery pack also works with Flex’s new table saw, but it does not fit or work with their other cordless tools such as the rear-handle saw or drills.
Dust Collection
The dust collection is the standout. With a vacuum hooked up, the saw captured almost everything, and even the included bag on its own does a solid job. Wing-shaped deflectors direct debris into the system, and the only dust left after testing came from cuts made with the vacuum and bag turned off.
The saw is also remarkably smooth while cutting, both on battery and on wall power, and the cuts come out clean.

Adjustments and Handling
The miter adjustments are smooth and easy to read, with green accent markers that make the scales simple to see. There’s an adjustable shoe at the base so the saw sits flush on the table without rocking, plus positive stops at the popular cut angles.
The bevel adjustment is the cleverest bit. Instead of the old rear crank knobs, there’s a big, beefy lever: pull it up and the saw head swings down through its bevel range, pull up again to reverse direction, and it automatically stops at the positive detents. It’s the easiest bevel adjustment this reviewer has used on a miter saw.
Fences are machined on the extenders as well as the main table, with a grippy surface on the table itself to stop workpieces from shifting. The depth stop is simple to set, and a bright LED light casts a shadow line for cut alignment, which is more accurate than any laser.
Things to Consider Before Buying
Two gripes are worth knowing. First, the included clamp has no quick-release: you have to twist it all the way down and all the way back up to adjust it. It’s otherwise well designed, usable on both sides, and positioned so it doesn’t interfere with the fences, and third-party clamps are an easy workaround.
Second, and slightly more seriously, there’s no turbo mode button anywhere on this saw. Whether that matters to you is a matter of preference, but it’s a notable omission given how Flex has equipped other tools.

The rail system versus an articulating arm comes down to personal preference and shop layout. Most pro saws on the market use rails, and the locking mechanism is solid, so for most buyers this won’t be a dealbreaker.
Buying Advice
If you’re already on the Flex platform, this saw is an easy recommendation: it’s smooth, the dust collection is exceptional, and the adjustments are among the most user-friendly available. If you’re not on the platform, the separately sold AC adapter lets you buy just the saw and run it plugged in, which is genuinely unusual flexibility.
If you’re the type who wants a turbo button or hates slow clamp adjustments, weigh those two gripes against the saw’s strengths. Given the lifetime warranty on registered tools from 2024 onward, the risk of the AC adapter setup feels well covered.
Conclusion
The Flex 12-inch cordless miter solve delivers on the things that matter day to day: smooth cutting on battery or wall power, outstanding dust collection, easy-to-read scales, and the simplest bevel adjustment around. The clamp and missing turbo mode are minor irritations rather than dealbreakers, and the dual-power design makes this one of the more flexible miter saws on the market right now.
