Wuben T4 Review: A Compact Tactical Flashlight That Gets the Basics Right
The Wuben T4 packs 850 lumens, a rotating tail mode ring, and IP68 durability into a pocket-sized tactical flashlight. Here's how it performs in daily use.
Introduction
The Wuben T4 is a compact tactical flashlight built around three use cases: patrolling, self-defense, and everyday carry. It puts out 850 lumens from a small aluminum body, throws up to 401 meters, and manages all of this while still fitting comfortably in a pocket. For anyone who wants tactical features without carrying a full-size light, it makes a strong first impression. This review covers what you get, how it works, and whether it deserves a place in your pocket.
What’s in the Box
The package includes the flashlight itself, a user manual and warranty information, a few spare O-rings, a detachable split-ring pocket clip, and one of the nicer charging cable designs around. The included cable doubles as a lanyard: it functions as a lanyard for carrying, and a small plastic cover pops off to reveal the USB Type-C charging connector underneath.

Note that the T4 does not come with a holster, only the pocket clip. There is also an optional AP50 tactical ring, sold separately for about $10 extra, which adds a sharp tungsten striking tip at the tail. It attaches under the tail cap and does not block access to the mode ring, so the flashlight stays fully usable with it installed.
Design, Build, and Colors
The T4 comes in two finishes made from different aluminum grades. The black version uses 6061 aluminum with a hard oxidation surface treatment, while the original color, which reads as an anodized OD green or gray, uses 7075 aluminum. The 7075 version has slightly better hardness, so it resists scratches and everyday wear a little better, and it also carries a slightly higher price.
At the head there is a blue accent ring around the lens and a striking bezel with four contact points. It is not an aggressive crenulated bezel, but it is a sensible touch for a light advertised as tactical. Dimensions are 3.82 inches long, with a 1.30-inch head and 1.18-inch tail. It weighs 100 grams with the battery installed, about 104 grams with the clip attached.
The Rotating Tail Ring Is the Standout Feature
The single rubberized tail switch has a satisfying half-stop, but the real highlight is the rotating ring around it. Pull the switch outward and rotate until it clicks to cycle between three positions: Duty, Tactical, and Lock.
- Duty mode: three brightness levels. Full press always starts on the 850-lumen high setting, then half presses cycle through high, medium, and low. There is no memory, so it always wakes on high.
- Tactical mode: a half press gives momentary 850-lumen high, and a full press jumps straight to a full-power 850-lumen strobe.
- Lock mode: exactly what it sounds like. The flashlight is completely locked out and ignores all inputs.

The lockout is one of the easiest to reach of any light in this class, and the mechanism itself is well engineered. With the tail cap off you can see all the moving parts sit inside the body under the spring, so the exterior stays clean and simple.
Battery, Charging, and Durability
Inside is a Wuben-branded 1,100 mAh, 3.6V 18350 button-top battery. The body uses a single-spring system at the tail only; the head side is a flat terminal. Battery swap purists may prefer a dual-spring design, but the single spring works fine in practice.
Charging can be done in an external slot charger, or directly on the light. Twist off a small ring near the head to expose the USB Type-C port, then twist it back closed to keep out dirt, mud, and dust. It is a small detail, but a smart one for a light meant to see rough duty.
The T4 is rated IP68, meaning it is fully dustproof and submersible in up to 6 feet of water, with 1.5 meters of impact resistance.

Light Output and Runtime
The LED is a cool white emitter at roughly 6500K, sitting fairly deep in a smooth reflector, which is what enables that 401-meter throw and 40,200 candela peak intensity. Runtime figures break down like this:
| Mode | Output | Runtime |
|---|---|---|
| High | 850 lumens | 1 minute, then steps down to 350 lumens for about 1 hour |
| Medium | 150 lumens | 2.5 hours |
| Low | 5 lumens | 70 hours |
| Strobe | 850 lumens | full output |
A heat check after one minute on high showed roughly 103°F at the head and 98.6°F at the body, so the aluminum stays comfortably manageable during the turbo period. The mode spacing from 5 to 150 to 850 lumens is sensible, and while a moonlight mode is absent, five lumens is a perfectly reasonable floor for a tactical light.
Beam Quality and Real-World Performance
Outdoors, the beam is genuinely impressive for a light this size. The hotspot is intense with a crisp, well-defined perimeter, and the cool white tint keeps detail visible at distance. It is not a floody beam by any stretch, but that is the point: this is a thrower first, and you are buying it for reach and punch, not ambient flood.

In practical use, that instant access to 850 lumens and full-output strobe is exactly what you want from a tactical light. One press and the target area lights up at 401 meters of throw capability, which is strong for an LED in this form factor.
What Could Be Better
Two small complaints are worth noting. First, there is no way to reverse the brightness order in Duty mode; it always starts high and steps down through medium to low, and some users would prefer the opposite. Second, the LED is only available in cool white, and a warm white option would give buyers more flexibility.
Buying Advice
Pricing sits at roughly $53 for the black 6061 aluminum version and around $60 to $65 for the OD green 7075 aluminum version. At those prices, the combination of throw, build quality, IP68 rating, and the rotating tail ring is hard to beat in the compact tactical flashlight market. If you value the better scratch resistance, the 7075 version is worth the small premium; otherwise the black version delivers the same core experience for less.
Conclusion
The Wuben T4 nails what a compact tactical flashlight should be: bright, throwy, simple to operate, well built, and easy to lock out. The rotating tail ring is a genuinely clever feature, and the beam performance punches well above its size. Aside from the fixed brightness order and the lack of a warm white option, there is little to fault here, and at its price it is one of the strongest picks in the category.
