Introduction

Pro model snowboards are back in a big way for 2023-2024. Some carry a pro’s name right on the deck, others simply serve as that rider’s board of choice, but all of them support the culture of snowboarding in a real way. If you like riding gear with a story behind it, this list of the top five pro models, plus two honorable mentions that just missed the cut, is for you.

How We Picked These Boards

Every board here was ridden hard across the mountain: groomers, chop, powder, side hits, and park laps. The ranking weighs how each board rides, how well its flex and profile match its intended purpose, and how much personality it brings. Some boards on this list are stiff and demanding, others are approachable and forgiving, so there is genuinely something for different riding styles.

5. Wire Devun Walsh

If you don’t know Devun Walsh, you don’t know your Canadian snowboard history. This man has been around since the Forum days and has a huge legacy in the sport, and this board from Wired continues that story while he mentors the next generation of Canadian pros.

The big thing with this board is that it’s damp where it counts and lively where you need it, and you can ride it all over the mountain without it holding back. It was a genuine standout from last season, and for this season all Wired did was slightly tweak the core to dial in the flex pattern. The result is a board that’s still good everywhere.

4. Lib Tech Rasman

The Rasman is simply a joy to ride. Its hybrid profile, reverse camber blending into camber, is forgiving exactly where you want it to be, while the dampening built into the ride lets you plow through chop and chunder without getting rattled. You can still boost with it too.

The graphics are a nice bonus on top of an already well-rounded ride. If you want one board that handles mixed conditions without complaint, this is a strong pick.

3. CAPiTA Aeronaut

Arthur Longo’s board of choice is the stiffest one on this list, and it’s honestly not going to be for most people. But if you like sending side hits, big ones, you can absolutely do it on this. It rails turns and has an insane amount of snap, which makes sense given that Longo is the master of the side hit.

If side hits are your thing, this is the board to get. You can’t go wrong with it, as long as you’re honest about wanting a stiffer, more demanding ride.

2. Battalion Beyond Medals

This one isn’t tied to a single pro, it’s the board of a whole crew of riders, and the shape is what makes it unique. It’s good in pow and good on a groomer, and you still get camber underfoot for a ton of pop and snap. Then there’s the 3BT, which gives you an easy entry when rolling edge to edge and helps with powder float.

Don’t sleep on this board. It’s very approachable and very responsive, sitting right in the sweet spot: not as aggressive as the Aeronaut, but not as mellow as the Wire Devun Walsh. It’s just a really good, responsive board.

Honorable Mentions

Two more great options just barely didn’t crack the top five, but both deserve a serious look.

The Signal Disruptor is Kyle Mack’s board, so if you want to ride like an Olympian, this is your chance. Even beyond the name on it, the shaping makes it a good, well-balanced park board.

The Arbor Bryan Iguchi Pro Camber is for the rest of us who are getting older and riding more directional boards. Why not ease into that transition on the same board the Guchi rides? It charges where you need it to and grips well, and you get the satisfaction of supporting one of the sport’s greats.

1. Nitro Alternator

The top pro model for 2023-2024 is the Nitro Alternator, and you get two pros for the price of one with Griffin Siebert and Jared Stern. Technically three, since Tommy Delago helped design it as well, which adds a nice piece of Nitro history.

The directional shape is essentially a combination of the Nitro Super Team from years past merged with the Nitro Mountain. It floats well, pops well, rides switch well, and it’s just a very well-balanced board for charging hard when you need to while staying laid back when you don’t.

Riding it put a smile on my face. Whether launching side hits, smashing powder, spraying skiers, or rolling up to the ropes, it just does it all. This is probably one of the favorite boards from Nitro this year, and it’s definitely one to check out.

Conclusion

Pro models in 2023-2024 offer something for nearly every rider: the all-mountain versatility of the Wire Devun Walsh, the forgiving fun of the Lib Tech Rasman, the side-hit aggression of the CAPiTA Aeronaut, the balanced responsiveness of the Battalion Beyond Medals, and the do-everything character of the Nitro Alternator. Add the Signal Disruptor and the Arbor Bryan Iguchi Pro Camber for park and directional riders, and you have a list with no bad answers, just different personalities. Pick the one that matches how you actually ride.
