Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Review: A Strong All-Round Floor Cleaner

Introduction

The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 is the second-generation update of one of the most impressive robot vacuums from last year. It brings improved suction, a slimmer body, and several of Roborock’s high-end features to the upper mid-range category. We put one through a series of tests over several weeks to see how it performs in real-world conditions.

The Edge 2 retails for around $1,300 but is often available for much less, placing it in the upper mid-range price tier. It replaces the original Qrevo Edge, which has been retired from the lineup in the United States.

Who the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 Is For

The Edge 2 is designed for homes that want a single robot capable of handling both vacuuming and mopping across mixed flooring. Its slim 3.14-inch profile, down from 4 inches on the original, allows it to reach under low-clearance furniture like couches and beds where dust tends to collect.

This makes it a strong fit for households with a mix of hard floors and rugs, as well as anyone who wants a robot that can navigate tight spaces without getting stuck. The retractable LiDAR turret keeps the body low while still providing efficient mapping and routing.

Vacuuming Performance

The Edge 2 delivers a significant step up in vacuuming compared to its predecessor. It handles debris of different sizes well on both hard floors and carpets, without scattering fine particles. In our carpet deep clean test, where sand is embedded into medium-pile carpet, the Edge 2 removed 94% of the sand. That was much higher than the original Edge and the average, and it tied with the top-scoring robot vacuum at the time of testing.

The robot uses Roborock’s DuoDivide main brush, a single brush separated in the center to funnel long hair into the suction port without tangling. The brush also includes bristles for better floor agitation, and the single side brush resists tangles while extending to sweep into corners.

In our 7-inch hair tangle test, the brush design earned a perfect score with no hair wrapping around it. The Edge 2 also performed very well in our pet hair pickup test, removing more hair than both the original Edge and the average.

Mopping Performance

The Edge 2 uses Roborock’s dual spinning mop pad design, where one pad extends to clean along the edges of walls and furniture. The pads scrub with eight newtons of downward pressure and can lift 12 mm over carpet, allowing the robot to vacuum and mop a mix of hard floors and rugs in a single run without wetting carpet fibers. You can also program the robot to avoid carpets altogether for extra protection.

This design achieved an impressive score in our dried-on stain test, much higher than average. Notably, it did so without using excessive water, which matters because too much water can leave streaks after drying. With a high stain score and low water penalty, the Edge 2 earned a strong combined mop score, outperforming the original Edge by a wide margin and doubling the average.

Navigation and Battery Life

Navigation efficiency remains a strength. The Edge 2 switched from a top-mounted LiDAR turret to Roborock’s RetractSense retractable LiDAR, but this hardware change had no negative effect on mapping or routing. It completed a vacuuming and mopping run in our studio floor plan about 16 minutes faster than the average.

Battery life is slightly below the first Edge, running 1.44 minutes per 1% of battery life. However, the efficient navigation offsets this, resulting in slightly higher-than-average floor coverage per charge. Homes with large floor plans or lots of carpet may notice the difference, but the robot supports recharge-and-resume and fast charging in the dock.

Dock and Maintenance

The base station is another highlight, with several upgrades over the previous generation. It washes the mops with 176-degree Fahrenheit water, hotter than the previous 167 degrees, and includes a new mop soaking feature for a deeper clean. The station automatically refills the mop tank with heated water for stronger mopping performance.

The dock also dries the mops using 131-degree Fahrenheit hot air to prevent bacteria growth and odors. The robot automatically empties its dustbin into a disposable bag that Roborock says can hold up to 65 days’ worth of debris.

App and Smart Features

Roborock’s mobile app remains one of the best in the business, with detailed controls and customization. It supports scheduling, room editing, no-go and no-mop zones, and other expected basics. The Edge 2 also includes Roborock’s SmartPlan 3.0 AI cleaning agent, which can identify room types to optimize cleaning strategies. The robot can boost suction for high-traffic areas, rewash mops after cleaning the kitchen, and reduce noise during Do Not Disturb times.

The robot is Matter-compatible and works with third-party voice assistants. Its front-facing camera can be accessed from the app for pet finding and live video monitoring, and it also supports the obstacle avoidance system.

Things to Consider Before Buying

Obstacle avoidance is the main area where the Edge 2 falls short of its predecessor. Using Roborock’s Reactive AI technology with an RGB camera, LED light assist, and 3D structured light, the Edge 2 avoided 14 out of 24 possible objects in our tests. That is below the average and a decrease from the original Edge, which avoided 16 out of 24. It is far from the worst score, but it is not an area where a performance drop is welcome.

The dustbin is also small compared to the average and the original Edge. Homes with a lot of bulky debris like pet hair may find the bin overfills before the robot can empty it.

Buying Advice

The Roborock Qrevo Edge 2 is a definite improvement over the already strong original Edge. Its vacuuming performance is a clear step up, and the mopping results are among the best we have seen. The slim body, efficient navigation, and capable dock add to its appeal.

The underwhelming obstacle avoidance is worth considering, especially if your home has many cords, small objects, or cluttered floors. If you can work around that limitation, the Edge 2 delivers excellent floor cleaning at a price that undercuts many flagship models.
