The Q Revo Curve: Solving the Biggest Robot Vacuum Frustrations

The Q Revo Curve is designed around the problems people run into most often. It has a feature called Adapt Lift, which lets the wheels extend individually to raise the entire chassis. This allows the vacuum to climb over door thresholds and other obstacles that would normally stop it cold.

The chassis can lift to overcome thresholds up to 4 cm, which is the highest in the industry. That might not sound like much, but for a robot vacuum, an inch and a half of clearance is significant. The system is smart about how it lifts too, sometimes raising just the front wheel, sometimes the back, and sometimes all three depending on what it needs to clear.

For mopping, the Q Revo Curve uses dual spinning mops that rotate at 200 RPM. It also has a Flexi Arm on the mop that swings out to reach edges, so it does not miss spots along walls. The side brush has a similar extendable arm for corners. This combination of high suction and effective mopping means a separate stick vacuum is largely unnecessary for most cleaning tasks.

The Q Revo Curve gets its name from the shape of its dock. The dock has a futuristic, curved design that looks clean and modern. The entire robot vacuum goes inside the dock rather than sticking out like traditional designs, so it is essentially hidden when not in use.

The dock holds both water tanks and the dust bag under a lid. It is also noticeably quieter when emptying the dust bin, thanks to an extra cover that reduces noise. The Q Revo Curve also includes Roborock’s object avoidance technology. A camera on board helps identify objects, and the vacuum did a great job avoiding everything it was tested with. The camera can also be used for remote control and checking on pets while you are away.

The vacuum is compatible with major smart home systems, and Roborock announced that Matter support will come as an update later.

The Q Revo Slim: Built for Low Furniture

The Q Revo Slim solves a different problem. Many robot vacuums cannot fit under low furniture because of the spinning LiDAR sensor on top that maps the house. The Q Revo Slim does not have that spinning sensor, so it can fit under furniture that would block a normal robot vacuum.

Instead of the spinning LiDAR, the Q Revo Slim uses dual light solid-state LiDAR with 3D time-of-flight scanning. It mapped the house just fine, though the process was slightly different since the sensors are only in the front and back. The vacuum has to turn side to side to see everything, but the results were still accurate.

The solid-state LiDAR also handles object avoidance, and it performed slightly better than the Q Revo Curve in this area. It kept a safer distance from obstacles, likely because it could scan objects from further away. The Slim also has a camera on board for remote control and video calls.

It is important to note that the Q Revo Slim does not have many of the Q Revo Curve’s features. The wheels do not extend, the dock has a more traditional design, and it uses a dual roller brush instead of the split brush. It does have concealed scrapers that cut hair, which is a useful feature for tangle prevention.

How the Q Revo Curve Compares to the S8 MaxV Ultra

If you are trying to decide between the Q Revo Curve and the S8 MaxV Ultra, the differences come down to what matters most for your home. The S8 MaxV Ultra is the flagship model, so it has a few extra features.

The S8 MaxV Ultra has a detergent tank in the dock that automatically adds detergent to the clean water. With the Q Revo Curve, you would have to manually add detergent if you want to use it. The S8 MaxV Ultra can also sense extra dirty spots on the floor and automatically clean those areas more thoroughly before moving on. It can lift the mop 20 mm instead of 10 mm on the Q Revo Curve.

Other S8 MaxV Ultra features include a high-speed sonic mopping pad instead of the dual spinning mops, Reactive AI 2.0 object avoidance, and a slightly larger water tank on the vacuum at 100 ml versus 80 ml.

The Q Revo Curve counters with higher max suction power, a bigger battery, a larger dust bin, and quieter operation on balance mode. It also has the extendable wheels for thresholds and carpet, plus the tangle-free side brush and split main brush.

Overall Buying Advice

The Q Revo Curve is the better choice if you deal with door thresholds, high pile carpets, hair tangles, or battery life issues. The Adapt Lift system is genuinely useful, and the anti-tangle brushes work as advertised. The larger battery also means the vacuum can finish the job in one pass without stopping to recharge.

The Q Revo Slim makes more sense if you have low furniture that other robot vacuums cannot reach. It sacrifices some features, but it solves a problem that no other model in this lineup can address. The solid-state LiDAR mapping works well, and the object avoidance is actually slightly better than the Q Revo Curve.

The S8 MaxV Ultra remains a strong flagship option if you want the detergent auto-dispensing, deeper mop lifting, and sonic mopping. But for most homes, the Q Revo Curve offers a more practical set of upgrades that address the frustrations people actually deal with on a regular basis.
