Phantom M MagSafe Wallet Review: A Minimalist Wallet That Finally Snaps On Properly
The Phantom M brings Phantom's acclaimed card fanning mechanism to a MagSafe-compatible wallet, in carbon fiber, walnut, and bamboo finishes.
Introduction
If your everyday carry is constantly fighting for pocket real estate, a wallet that combines several items into one is an appealing idea. MagSafe wallets promise exactly that: a card holder that snaps to the back of your phone. The problem has always been finding a good one. Most options on the market are thin pieces of leather with a couple of tight card pockets that simply do not function well.
The Phantom M changes that. Phantom took its well-regarded minimalist wallet and added MagSafe-compatible magnets to the back, so the full functionality of a proper card-carrying wallet now snaps onto the back of your phone. After spending time with the carbon fiber version, it is easy to see why this feels like one of the strongest MagSafe wallet options currently available.
Design and Build Quality
The Phantom M is a horizontal-style minimalist wallet that snaps directly onto the back of any MagSafe-compatible phone. It is available in three versions: the carbon fiber version shown here, plus walnut and bamboo options. There are also three card capacities: an extra slim, a slim, and a regular, all at the same price.

Construction is a highlight. The aluminum inner frame provides RFID protection and feels genuinely premium, the sides are grippy so the wallet does not feel like it will slip out of your hand, and the carbon fiber plate on the front adds a refined finish. On the back, a matte magnetic panel is what locks the wallet onto your phone. It is made in Canada and comes with a lifetime warranty.
The Card Fanning Mechanism
This is where Phantom stands apart. The pull lever at the bottom of the wallet is as smooth as butter: give it a pull and your cards fan out in a perfectly stepped arc, thanks to an internal step lever. In testing, nine flat cards loaded at once still fanned out flawlessly.

Everyday use is just as well thought out. Your most-used card sits at the front with a thumb cut-out for quick grabbing, and if you need a card from the middle, you simply press down on the stack until you reach the one you want and pull it out. It is a genuinely functional system rather than the decorative card slots found on typical MagSafe wallets.
What Changes With MagSafe
The Phantom M closely resembles the Phantom X, Phantom’s existing minimalist wallet, with one key difference: the MagSafe-compatible magnets on the back. If you already own a Phantom X, you know exactly what you are getting here.
Snap the wallet onto a MagSafe-compatible phone and it locks into place, with the lever oriented at the bottom of the phone. It sits flush even under a case with a raised aluminum lens protector. The practical benefit is real: instead of a flat leather pocket that barely holds cards, you get a full-featured minimalist wallet that carries up to nine cards and attaches securely to your phone.
Accessories: MagSafe Sticker and AirTag Holder
Not an iPhone owner? Phantom offers an eight-dollar MagSafe sticker that makes any phone MagSafe compatible. It is simply a sticker applied to the back of the phone, and from there it accepts any MagSafe wallet, including the Phantom M.

There are currently two accessories for the Phantom M: an AirTag holder and that MagSafe sticker. This is a meaningful difference from the Phantom X, which has screw holes and supports a large range of add-ons. One notable limitation: there is no cash-carrying add-on for the Phantom M, and with no screw holes on the wallet, there is no obvious way to attach additional accessories in the future.
Price and Buying Advice
The carbon fiber version costs $139, which is fairly steep and worth weighing carefully at this price point. The walnut and bamboo versions cost $129. Card capacity does not affect the price, so the extra slim costs the same as the regular.

If you carry cards rather than cash and want to consolidate your pockets, the Phantom M is easy to recommend. It is extremely well built, RFID protected, backed by a lifetime warranty, and its card access is genuinely the best in its class. Cash carriers, however, should look elsewhere for now, and anyone planning to build out a modular wallet setup may prefer the more accessorizable Phantom X.
Conclusion
The Phantom M is the MagSafe wallet that finally justifies the category. It combines Phantom’s outstanding card fanning mechanism, premium materials, and RFID protection with a magnetic back that snaps securely onto any MagSafe-compatible phone. At $139 for carbon fiber or $129 for walnut or bamboo it is not cheap, but for card-first minimalists it may be the most functional MagSafe wallet currently on the market.
