Five EDC Picks Worth a Look: Olight Otacle P1, OKnife Metal, and More

A compact multi-tool, a standout button-lock knife, a bolt-action pen, a tiny keychain light, and a UV-equipped EDC flashlight, all from one brand family.

Five everyday carry items including a multi-tool, knife, pen, and two flashlights on concrete

Introduction

Olight’s ecosystem has grown well beyond flashlights, and its latest lineup of everyday carry gear covers a surprising amount of ground: a plier-based multi-tool, a button-lock folding knife, a bolt-action pen, a keychain light, and a compact EDC flashlight with an unusual UV mode. Here is how each one stacks up.

Olight Otacle P1: The Brand’s First Plier Multi-Tool

Olight has finally entered the plier-based multi-tool market with the Otacle P1. If the design looks familiar, that is because an identical tool exists under another name, but the Olight version brings one meaningful advantage: it is covered by Olight’s own warranty program, which has built a solid reputation. The all-black colorway also looks sharper than most.

At just under three ounces, the tool set covers a lot of ground: a two-dimensional Phillips driver with a lanyard ring tucked behind it, a flathead driver with a SIM card removal tool hidden underneath, a well-regarded pair of scissors, a sheep’s foot style blade, a can opener and bottle opener combo, and pliers with both a cutter and fine tips.

There is room for improvement without changing the form factor. Swapping the steel spacers for plastic would cut weight noticeably, and a wider scissor finger loop would make cutting more comfortable. A bladeless, travel-friendly version would also be welcome as such tools become harder to find. Even as is, it is a genuinely good tool, and at a hoped-for sub-$20 price point it would be an easy recommendation for nearly anyone. Just note that the related proprietary-blade model is not the one to pick; the titanium variation uses standardized blades and adds a pocket clip.

OKnife Metal: A Button Lock That Means Business

The OKnife Metal is a folding knife with an aluminum handle and a button lock, and the action is genuinely impressive. It is very close to, if not on par with, some of the best-tuned button locks on the market. The spring-loaded detent is firm and confident, something weaker button locks often get wrong. OKnife is OEM’d by Kaiser, and it shows in the fit and finish.

The jimping extends exactly where you want it, and the handle shape is reminiscent of high-end favorites. The blade steel is 154CM, shared with the previously favored OKnife Freeze 2, but this handle may well take its place. One small critique: future versions would benefit from more aggressive jimping on the corner of the flipper tab. Also worth watching for: bundle deals that pair this knife with other items, which can drop the overall price dramatically.

OKnife Open Mini: A Small Pen With Big Appeal

The OKnife Open Mini is a bolt-action pen that ships with gel refills. When buying during a sale, check whether a free three-pack of inserts can be added to your cart, as this has been offered alongside pen purchases. It is a small pen, but the bolt-action mechanism and gel ink make it a pleasant daily writer.

Olight i3E: The Simple Keychain Light

The Olight i3E is the kind of light that tends to show up bundled with purchases or membership perks, and it makes sense as a giveaway or a spare. It is unopened in this lineup, but its role is clear: an inexpensive, no-fuss keychain light that just works. If it appears as a bonus with your order, it is a nice little extra to toss on your keys or keep in a bag.

Olight Seeker 4 Mini: A Floody EDC Light With a UV Trick

The Seeker 4 Mini is the most interesting light of the bunch. It puts out 1,200 lumens, the same as the Baton 3, but with a lower candela rating because the beam is extremely flooded. Where it sets itself apart is the interface: a double press from off gives you a very bright UV light, substantially brighter than other UV lights in the category. Turn the light on first, and a double press takes you straight to Turbo instead; triple press accesses strobe from any state. A hold from off gives you moonlight, and holding while on cycles through three brightness modes.

The high mode runs at 600 lumens for about 50 minutes, which is higher output and slightly longer runtime than the Baton 3. That is likely thanks to the larger battery: this uses an 18350 cell rather than the 16340 (CR123-size) cell in the Baton 3, so it is noticeably bigger overall. Magnetic charging and a familiar interface carry over, and the reversible pocket clip still works as a dangler for keys. If UV functionality appeals to you, this is the model to pick. One caveat: the UV on double press means it is not ideal for quick defensive access to Turbo.

Buying Advice

If you want one tool with maximum utility per ounce, the Otacle P1 is the standout, especially if it lands near the sub-$20 mark. Knife enthusiasts should prioritize the OKnife Metal for its exceptional button lock, ideally in a bundle deal. The Seeker 4 Mini suits anyone who wants a floody EDC light and finds UV genuinely useful, while the Open Mini and i3E are easy add-ons that round out a kit.

Conclusion

This lineup shows how far the brand has come beyond flashlights. The Otacle P1 is a legitimate multi-tool with warranty backing, the OKnife Metal is a serious contender among button-lock knives, and the Seeker 4 Mini brings a unique UV twist to the EDC light category. Match the pick to your actual carry needs, and there is something here for almost everyone.
