Oakley TC Gunn Shell 2.0 RC Shell Jacket and Bib Pants: Stale Sandbech's Signature Snow Kit Reviewed
Oakley's Team Collection outerwear from Stale Sandbech's signature line balances style, solid 10K protection and a competitive price without a premium membrane.
Introduction
There are very few riders whose style carries as much weight on a snowboard as Stale Sandbech, and his signature outerwear collection for Oakley is a natural extension of that. The technical names are a bit of a mouthful: the TC Gunn Shell 2.0 RC Shell Jacket and the matching TC Gunn Bib Pants. Both are part of Oakley’s Team Collection, drawn from the Pinnacle line, where leading team riders steer their own collections toward their personal style and technical needs in the mountains. That rider-driven approach is exactly why this line keeps earning recognition, including a previous Whitelines 100 award, and it is back for the new winter season with a fresh look and new big pants.
Style That Runs Through the Whole Line
Fans should be able to spot the signature line from the chest logo on the jacket, and that look carries across the entire collection, including the matching signature goggles, which also picked up a Whitelines 100 award this year. If you want to complete the set, the goggles are worth checking out separately.

Out on the snow or back down in town at the pub, the jacket and bibs together genuinely look the part. The jacket is also available in a dark green camo, while the pants come in the same camo as well as a lighter yellow. Still, the sand colourway we tested has to be the best looking combo of the range.
Weather Protection and Materials
Both the jacket and the pants feature 10K waterproofing and breathability with fully taped seams. That is not the most technical membrane you can get your hands on, but for holding up in resort or venturing off-piste on a shorter day mission, it is fine, and it will keep you well protected from some pretty horrible conditions.

Skipping a pricier waterproof membrane like GORE-TEX also helps keep the cost of both pieces down, which is a big part of the value story here. On top of that, the DWR treatment on the face fabrics means water beads and runs off the garment rather than soaking in, so the jacket does not wet out and lose its breathability.
There are some decent sustainability efforts here too: the face fabrics are made from 100% recycled polyester sourced from plastic bottles, keeping that material out of landfill.
Jacket Features
You are pretty well catered for in the features department. Up top there is a helmet-compatible hood, and the zips are waterproof, not just the central one but also the chest pocket and the two side pockets. Under the arms, pit zips add ventilation for warmer days or hiking.

Elsewhere you get a lift pass pocket on the arm and an internal mesh pocket for your goggles. Snow stay-out measures include an adjustable cinch hem, a powder skirt inside, adjustable cuffs, and light cuffs with thumb holes. Fit-wise, the jacket offers plenty of room and mobility but leans toward a slightly more slim, performance-oriented cut.
Bib Pants Features
The bibs bring their own practical touches, starting with adjustable straps and quick-release buckles, which might come in handy if you have been going hard all day and need to make an emergency stop up on the mountain. There is also a two-way zip opening at the front, and we will let you work out the benefits of that one.
Pocket-wise, there are two up top plus a waterproof zipped pocket on the right thigh, and the vents sit on the inside of the legs. Around the waist there is velcro adjustment, and down at the cuff you get an elasticated snap-button closure with a gaiter on the inside. The fit is looser and baggier than the jacket, but the pairing works well and looks great together.
Who This Set Is For
Any regular resort and park riders who occasionally venture beyond the ropes will be super well looked after with this outerwear set. We had our team riding in it every day for the best part of a month, and it held up well across daily use in resort and short backcountry missions.
Buying Advice
While there are warmer, lighter, more waterproof and more breathable options out there, this set strikes a great balance at a really competitive price point, which is why it earned one of our best in test picks. If you ride mostly in resort, value style, and do not want to pay a premium for a high-end membrane you may not need, the TC Gunn Shell 2.0 jacket and bibs are an easy recommendation.
Conclusion
Stale Sandbech’s signature Oakley outerwear lands right between form and function: distinctive styling, sensible 10K protection, useful features, recycled face fabrics, and pricing that undercuts membrane-heavy rivals. For most resort riders, that balance is more than enough reason to consider it this winter.
