Loopgear SK05 Pro II Review: A Flat Wedge Flashlight With Serious Output
The SK05 Pro II pairs spot, flood, and RGB side light in one well-built wedge body, with 5,000 lumens, IP68 sealing, and a two-way USB-C power bank. Here is what to know before buying.
Introduction
The Loopgear SK05 Pro II is a flat wedge-style combo flashlight that aims to cover nearly every lighting task in one body: a spot beam, a wide flood, a combination of both, and a surprisingly capable RGB side light. With a maximum output of 5,000 lumens, a maximum throwing distance of 410 m, a max intensity of 41,000 cd, and a max runtime of 42 hours, it has the numbers to back up the ambition. After spending time with it, the question is not whether it is a good flashlight, but who it makes the most sense for.
Design and Build Quality
If you have seen the original SK05 or the SK05 Pro, you already know this body. Loopgear has kept essentially the same flat rectangle shape across all three iterations, and from a distance the three lights are genuinely hard to tell apart. The most visible changes on the Pro II are the rose gold metal side switch, the new Hall effect mechanical rotating dial, and a magnetic plastic door covering the USB-C port where earlier models used a rubber flap.
That said, the build is excellent. The MAO white version we handled uses a micro arc oxidation ceramic finish that feels smooth and matte without any gloss, and the whole light has the dense, solid feel of a well-made little brick. The magnetic tail is strong enough to hold the light fully horizontal on a steel surface, the battery door latch feels secure, and there is a toggle switch to lock the door closed so the cells cannot pop out.

The flat shape also makes it one of the better-pocketing lights in this class, and it tail stands without any fuss thanks to that magnetic, flat base.
Output, Runtime, and Beam
The Pro II is a combo light with three SST-25 flood LEDs and a single spot LED behind a smooth reflector. The reviewed unit is the 6,500 K version, and it is also available in a 5,700 K Nichia 519A variant. In spot mode, turbo runs at 2,500 lumens for about 40 seconds before stepping down to 850 lumens, where it holds for a claimed 3.2 hours. Flood turbo hits 3,800 lumens for 40 seconds, then steps down to 950 lumens for 2.5 hours. Running spot and flood together is where the headline 5,000-lumen figure comes from, stepping down to 1,500 lumens.
A medium setting of 320 lumens for 11.2 hours makes a sensible everyday sweet spot. The spot beam is a classic thrower pattern: a crisp, intense hotspot with a defined outer perimeter and very little spill, and the flood fills the rest of the scene fairly evenly. One honest caveat: the combination mode heats up quickly and steps down almost immediately, so do not expect long stretches at full 5,000-lumen output.

The RGB Side Light
The side light is one of the biggest upgrades here. Loopgear increased the LED count from 22 to 60, and output has risen to 120 lumens with high CRI. More importantly, the light is a more neutral, purer white than the noticeably yellow tone of the earlier Pro. At high, it is genuinely bright and useful as a soft area light for a campsite, a workshop, or a power cut.
The side light also carries the flashlight’s only moonlight mode, around one lumen, plus low, medium, and high settings. RGB features include solid colors, breathing and trailing animations, a rainbow party mode, and an emergency flashing pattern with red, white, and blue options. If you enjoy animated RGB gimmicks, there is plenty to play with; if you do not, the plain white modes alone justify the upgrade.
UI, Batteries, and Charging
Everything is controlled with a single metal side switch and the mechanical rotating dial, which selects spot, flood, RGB, and lockout. The Hall effect dial feels smooth and responsive, and it is a clear step up from the dial on the SK05 Pro. Short presses toggle the light on and off, a long press cycles low, medium, and high, double press jumps to turbo, and triple click accesses strobe and SOS. Brightness memory works across all modes, including the RGB side light.
There is also an auto-lockout mode activated with seven presses, and when it is on, a press and hold from the locked state gives you an instant momentary red light, handy for preserving night vision without digging through RGB modes.

Power comes from two 3.6 V 4,000 mAh 18650 rechargeable lithium ion batteries. They charge through the two-way USB-C port, or via an external slot charger if you prefer. Because the port is two-way, the SK05 Pro II also works as a power bank, with 22 W fast charging and 22 W discharge. For a light that already rides in a pocket or bag, that redundancy is genuinely useful.
Everyday Carry and Extras
In the box you get the flashlight, a user manual, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a screwdriver with two screws, and a pocket clip. The clip replaces a small Loopgear plate on the side of the body, and installation is straightforward. Carry is lens-up as shipped, and the flat form factor means only a little over an inch of the light protrudes from a pocket. Given the flat design and the magnetic tail, it is easy to imagine reversing the clip for lens-down carry as well.
The IP68 rating means it is fully dustproof, submersible in up to 6 ft of water, and rated for 1 m of impact resistance. That is a strong rating at this size, and replaceable batteries are a plus that sealed-flashlight designs simply cannot offer.

Who Should Buy It
If you do not own the SK05 Pro, the Pro II is easy to recommend: it is a well-built, versatile combo light with a genuinely useful RGB side light, power bank functionality, and strong IP68 protection. If you already own the SK05 Pro, the calculus is harder. The main upgrades are the Hall effect dial, the magnetic USB-C door, and improved lumen and candela specs, including a 24% increase in flood output and a 92% increase in spot output at turbo. But those are turbo figures, and you spend very little time at that level in practice. Without more sustainable turbo runtimes, the upgrade case is thin.
Conclusion
The Loopgear SK05 Pro II is a thoughtfully executed combo flashlight that does spot, flood, and side light duties in a compact, pocket-friendly wedge. The neutral-white 120-lumen side light, the excellent Hall effect dial, replaceable batteries, and two-way USB-C charging make it an appealing pick for anyone starting fresh. Owners of the previous Pro model can reasonably wait for a more substantial redesign.
