We put Hart's five-tool 20V combo kit plus the standalone impact wrench and inflator to work around an RV setup. Here is what holds up and what to check before buying.

Introduction

Hart tools have quietly become a fixture at Walmart, and the brand’s whole appeal comes down to one thing: when the sales hit, the value can be hard to beat. We have been running the Hart 5 Tool Combo Kit, plus the standalone impact wrench and the tire inflator, as part of an RV-based tool setup to see whether they can keep up with real use. So far, they have been surprisingly solid.

The honest summary up front: at full price these tools are average value, but when Walmart blows them out on closeout, they become genuinely worth a look. That is exactly the window this kit currently sits in.

What Is in the Five-Tool Combo Kit

The kit typically sells for around $99, with reports of it dropping as low as $50 during closeouts, though we have not personally seen that price yet. For roughly a hundred dollars you get five tools, two batteries, a charger, and a carrying bag. The standout detail is the drill: it has a rubber-wrapped half-inch chuck, which is uncommon on entry-level combo kit drills, along with plenty of torque setting combinations to dial in your fastening work.

One thing worth knowing is that these tools run on a battery platform that is a cousin to Ryobi’s, which bodes well for future compatibility and availability. On the downside, there is no LED light on the drill itself and no easy way to check remaining charge on the pack. You are essentially guessing how much power is left.

The Work Light and the Vacuum Are Quiet Highlights

Two less glamorous pieces of the kit ended up earning real praise. The pivoting work light can be angled into different positions, and it has a clever bonus: the base fits over a two-by-four, so you can clamp it onto framing lumber and rotate it to light up exactly where you are working.

The little handheld vacuum is another pleasant surprise. It has decent suction for its size, the canister pops off for easy emptying, and it is genuinely handy for quick cleanup after a job is done. These are the kind of small wins that make a budget combo kit feel more considered than the price suggests.

The Reciprocating Saw: Honest Limitations

The reciprocating saw is the weakest link in the set. It works, but it is an on/off trigger rather than a variable-speed momentary control, all the way on or all the way off. The lever lock release for blade changes works fine, but the shoe appears to be fixed: we could not find a way to adjust it, so the foot is where the foot is.

It is very lightweight, which makes it easy to handle, but this is clearly homeowner-grade, weekend-warrior territory. If you expect daily framing or demolition work out of it, you will be disappointed. For occasional cuts around the house or campsite, it does the job.

The Standalone Impact Wrench

Sold separately, the Hart impact wrench is a lightweight, light-duty impact wrench that has already proven useful around the RV. One important tip from experience: the small 1.5Ah batteries do not do it justice. If you plan to buy this tool, budget for a 4Ah battery so it can actually deliver what it is capable of.

The Inflator Is the Sleeper Hit

If one product in this lineup deserves a standalone recommendation, it is the tire inflator. It currently sells for around $20 at Walmart, and it has been used extensively and loved. You set your target pressure and it starts and stops automatically to hit it. It also has a secondary mode that turns it into a small pump for air beds and pool toys, which makes it a genuinely versatile travel companion.

The cord wraps around the body for storage, though it can take a couple of tries to wrap it the right way. At twenty dollars, it is one of the easiest yes-purchases in the Hart lineup.

Buying Advice

There is a practical reason we chose Hart for this experiment: Walmart is almost everywhere. There are around 4,000 Walmart stores, roughly double the number of Lowe’s, and far more than the thousand or so Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight locations. When you are on the road and need a battery, a tool, or a replacement part, a Walmart is rarely far away.

The key Hart buying strategy is patience. These tools are not great value at list price, but the sales are aggressive. Walmart marks things down hard when it blows out inventory, and that is when the line goes from average to excellent. Waiting for a sale is worth it here.

Conclusion

The Hart 5 Tool Combo Kit is a capable homeowner-grade set with a few genuine standouts, a half-inch chuck on the drill, a cleverly designed work light, and a surprisingly handy vacuum, balanced by an entry-level recip saw and no onboard charge indicators. The impact wrench is best paired with a 4Ah battery, and the $20 inflator alone nearly justifies a trip to the store. Buy it on closeout, and it becomes one of the better budget starter kits around.
