EGO Battery Snow Blower and Snow Shovel: Two Cordless Winter Upgrades Worth a Look

A closer look at EGO's 21-inch single stage snow blower and its dedicated power snow shovel, with performance notes, features, and trade-offs to weigh before buying.

Introduction

If you are tired of gas, fumes, carburetors, and bad fuel sitting in a can all winter, battery-powered snow removal is an appealing alternative. EGO is widely regarded as one of the strongest names in battery-powered outdoor equipment, and its snow lineup shows why. We looked at two tools from that lineup: the SNT2134, a 21-inch single stage snow blower, and a dedicated power snow shovel.

Both tools deliver genuinely strong torque for battery machines, glide easily over slick or wet pavement, and run far quieter than any gas equivalent. They are not cheap, and there are real limits to what they can handle, so it is worth understanding exactly where each one fits before you buy.

The 21-Inch Single Stage Snow Blower

The SNT2134 is a 21-inch single stage snow blower with a 13-inch clearing height and 200-degree directional control. It comes with two 6Ah batteries and a dual-port charger so both can charge at the same time. The batteries slide in and out easily, and the battery compartment door is hinged in a way that does not snap back at your fingers like some competitors do.

The chute is controlled from the handle: one lever adjusts the direction the snow is blown, and a second adjusts pitch and throw distance, reaching up to 45 feet. As with most snow throwers, the deeper the snow, the further it throws. On a handful of inches, it tosses snow with real authority, and the torque on EGO’s snow blowers is genuinely impressive.

One honest surprise: although this is a manual-push single stage unit, it glides remarkably well on wet, slick, or moist surfaces. It is easy to maneuver, small enough to reach tighter areas, and gives you more control than a heavy two-stage machine. It also scrapes very close to the pavement, clearing down to the surface instead of leaving a quarter inch of slush behind.

EGO claims a 14-car driveway on a single charge. The machine is designed for snowfalls of up to about 8 inches. If you live somewhere with lake-effect snow or frequent heavy dumps, this probably is not the tool for you, but for typical snowfall in most driveways it does the job well.

Comfort, Convenience, and Smart Features

The SNT2134 packs in a lot of extras. The handle grips are heated and genuinely effective; heat comes through even with gloves on. Two bright LED lights up front help with early mornings and evenings, and they can be set to a blinking mode for extra visibility.

There is also Bluetooth. With the companion app, the blower can pre-warm the grips before you head outside, and you can turn the lights and grips on manually with a button if you would rather skip the app entirely. This is a genuinely smart device, which some buyers will love and others will not care about.

It is also very quiet. Running at full power, it is quiet enough that clearing snow in the middle of the night will not wake the neighbors, the kids, or the dogs. Storage is another strong point: the handles collapse, the height adjusts for taller or shorter users, and the whole unit tucks into a corner far more easily than a two-stage machine.

Things to Consider Before Buying

Two drawbacks are worth knowing about. First, the directional chute lever is not the smoothest. Getting it all the way over to one side takes some effort and a firm pull; it works, but it is not buttery like many other machines.

Second, the price. With all the features included, the SNT2134 lists at $899 before tax. That is a lot of money for a single stage blower, even one with heated grips, LED lights, Bluetooth, two 6Ah batteries, and a dual-port charger. If you are comfortable with the price, EGO is arguably the top of the market in battery-powered outdoor equipment. If budget is the priority, look carefully before committing.

The Power Snow Shovel

The dedicated power snow shovel is the tool for the places a snow blower cannot go: decks, patios, steps, and tight awkward corners. It has a 12-inch clearing width, a 56-volt battery system, a fast charger included, a 5-year warranty, and weighs roughly 17 pounds with the battery, so it is light and easy to push around without twisting your back the way a manual shovel does.

EGO claims it can clear a three-car driveway with 6 inches of snow on just the 2.5Ah battery and throw snow up to 25 feet, with 60-degree directional control. Like the bigger blower, it throws further the deeper the snow, and it scrapes very close to the ground so it clears anything sticking up from the surface.

The standout feature is the directional control. Instead of dumping snow in front of you and having to walk over it again, you press down on the knob and rotate it to throw left, right, or straight ahead. There are also two auger speeds, low and high, so you can match throw distance to the job.

Starting is simple: press a button, pull the trigger. It glides across surfaces just as easily as the bigger blower and maneuvers into tight spaces very well. Unlike the 21-inch blower, there are no heated grips and no Bluetooth here, which is a reasonable trade at this size.

Buying Advice

The power snow shovel lists at $329.99. For deck and patio clearing, walkways, and anyone with back issues who dreads swinging a manual shovel, it is a compelling option, and the adjustable handle position makes it adaptable to different users.

Both machines share the same core strengths: strong torque, easy pushing, quiet operation, and freedom from oil changes, spark plugs, and stale gas. The trade-offs are the same too. Runtime depends on snow depth and moisture, batteries take time to recharge, and these tools are built for snow up to about 8 inches. Deep, heavy accumulations will push past what they are designed for. They are also not built for professional snow removal crews; these are DIY homeowner tools.

If you are already committed to keeping your $30 manual shovel, that is fine, this category is not for you. But if you want the convenience of cordless snow clearing from a brand that consistently leads in battery outdoor power equipment, both of these tools deliver on their promises, with the 21-inch blower being the more feature-rich and more expensive choice.

Conclusion

EGO’s 21-inch single stage snow blower and power snow shovel both do their jobs very well: powerful for their class, easy to maneuver, quiet, and genuinely convenient. The main hesitations are price and snow-depth limits. For typical snowfalls and homeowner-sized driveways, walks, decks, and patios, both are strong picks for anyone ready to leave gas behind for good.
