Introduction

Daily Carry Company has made a name for itself with gravity knives built from grade five titanium and polished M390 steel. The lineup includes the Mag Slide, the Mini Slide, and the Mag Blade, and the Mag Slide and Mini Slide stand out as the first gravity knives on the market with magnetic closures.

After spending a few weeks with the Mag Slide and Mini Slide, the magnetic closure proved far better in practice than it might sound on paper. Both knives handle beautifully one-handed, feel solid in the hand, and look striking with their sandblasted titanium handles and polished M390 Tanto blades. The Mag Blade shares much of the same build quality, though its functionality divided opinions more sharply.

How We Evaluated These Knives

A gravity knife lives or dies by its one-handed operation. We focused on how smoothly the blade deploys and retracts, how securely the handle stays closed, how solid the blade locks in place, and how the knife feels during everyday carry. Build quality, fit and finish, edge sharpness out of the box, and what ships in the box all factored into the assessment.

Daily Carry Company Mag Slide

The Mag Slide is a full-size titanium gravity knife with a magnetic closure. Two magnets, one in each part of the swiveling handle, hold the handle closed, and at first glance that seems like it would get in the way of one-handed use. In practice, the opposite is true. A small tab on the top of the handle lets you push the handle forward with a tap, and the blade deploys with gravity. Closing works the same way in reverse.

You can also flick it open with a bit of wrist action while holding the swivel end between thumb and forefinger. Once the blade is out, a tab on the blade seats into the closed handle, and the other part of the handle wedges it in place. With a fist applying pressure, the lock feels rock solid. Without pressure there is a slight bit of movement, but no worse than typical out-the-front knives.

The handle is machined from thick grade five titanium with a sandblasted finish, and the machined ridges add real texture for grip. The blade is a polished M390 Tanto that looks genuinely gorgeous, and all hardware and screws are grade five titanium. A small design detail on one side of the handle helps you orient the sharpened edge without looking. Our only real complaint is carry options: there is no pocket clip and no leather sheath, just a small bag included in the box.

How the Magnetic Closure Works

The magnets sit where the blade comes out, with one magnet on each part of the swiveling handle. They hold the handle closed very well, and even with the blade deployed the magnets keep the handle in place. A little downward force opens the handle and lets the blade slide right back in.

This design makes the Mag Slide and Mini Slide extremely fidgety knives in the best sense. Tap the top tab, the handle swings, gravity deploys the blade, and one smooth motion closes it again. It is addictive to operate, and that constant fidgeting is exactly what makes a gravity knife fun to carry.

Daily Carry Company Mini Slide

The Mini Slide is the smallest gravity knife on the market and essentially a mini version of the Mag Slide with the same magnetic closure. It shares the same specs: grade five titanium body, polished M390 Tanto-style blade, and grade five titanium hardware. It operates exactly the same way, just in miniature.

Even for people who generally avoid knives this small, the Mini Slide is hard to put down. The action is so smooth and fidgety that it becomes a genuine desk toy, and it is extremely sharp right out of the box, cutting like a little razor. One wish: it uses the smooth sandblasted titanium body of the Mag Blade, and the machined ridge texture of the Mag Slide would look and feel even better on this size.

Daily Carry Company Mag Blade

The Mag Blade is the thicker and slightly longer sibling in the lineup, with a smooth sandblasted titanium handle and the same polished M390 Tanto blade. Build quality is never the issue here; the fit and finish across Daily Carry Company’s knives is top-notch, and the Mag Blade is no exception.

Functionality is where opinions split. The magnetic closure system did not win everyone over, and out of the box the Mag Blade was not the sharpest, barely cutting paper rather than slicing it. That is an easy fix with a touch-up, though M390 is not the easiest steel to sharpen. If you value looks and build quality over deployment action, the Mag Blade still has a lot going for it.

What Comes in the Box

Both the Mag Slide and Mini Slide ship with the same accessories. The box itself has a nice magnetic closure, and inside you get a black cleaning cloth, a tool for loosening the screws, spare screws and titanium tabs, a sticker and patch, and the small storage bag mentioned earlier.

The bag is serviceable, but a proper leather sheath option would be a welcome addition for these knives, especially since neither has a pocket clip.

Overall Buying Advice

If you want a full-size gravity knife with the best grip texture and the most refined action in the lineup, the Mag Slide is the pick. If you want something pocketable that doubles as a fidget toy without sacrificing build quality, the Mini Slide is remarkably fun. The Mag Blade suits buyers who prioritize looks and construction and are less concerned about the deployment action. None of the three includes a pocket clip or leather sheath, so plan your carry method accordingly.

Conclusion

Daily Carry Company’s Mag Slide and Mini Slide make a strong case for the magnetic gravity knife design, pairing thick grade five titanium handles with gorgeous polished M390 Tanto blades and a one-handed action that works exactly as promised. The Mag Blade shares the same excellent build quality, though its functionality is more divisive. For anyone drawn to gravity knives, the Mag Slide and Mini Slide are easy knives to love.
