Daily Carry Co Balisong-Style Knife and TipTiPick: Two EDC Pieces That Do Things Differently

A m390 tanto folding knife with an unusual locking swing mechanism and a three-gram titanium toothpick that disappears in your pocket.

Introduction

Daily Carry Co is a newer name in everyday carry, and these two products make a strong first impression. One is a folding knife with an opening mechanism unlike anything else on the market, and the other is a titanium toothpick so small you will genuinely forget it exists. Both share excellent fit and finish and a clear design point of view.

The Knife: A Balisong Feel With a Lock

This is the company’s first knife, and its signature trick is the fall-open, balisong-style swing. Both handles rotate freely around the blade, giving it that familiar flipping feel, but unlike a true balisong, the blade locks in place once it reaches full extension. Stop pins trap both handle pieces, so once your hand is around it there is no play at all. It feels like one solid piece, and when closed, the handles trap the stop pin again so the blade cannot slip out until you deliberately open them.

The swing itself is satisfying, with a guillotine-like smoothness and a nice click as internal magnets come together. Most people will want to open it two-handed at first, but the stop pins keep the blade from going further than it should, so it is less intimidating than it looks.

Blade Steel and Edge Performance

The blade comes in at just under three inches, with a cutting edge of roughly two and an eighth inches plus a little under an inch more on the secondary angle. It is a tanto profile, and the blade is a seriously thick slab: more than an eighth of an inch. That thickness is paired with M390 steel, which is about as premium as blade steels get, mated to milled titanium handles with bearings inside.

Despite the slab-like build, it arrives wicked sharp and slices surprisingly well for something that thick. With M390, you also will not need to sharpen it very often. The tanto tip does still allow draw cuts thanks to that secondary edge, though a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot version would be a welcome future variant, since the tanto shape was a necessity given how little room there is in the frame.

The TipTiPick: Titanium Toothpick

The TipTiPick is a titanium toothpick that measures only about an inch and a half long and a quarter inch wide. You unscrew it to reveal threading at the back where the pick lives, and O-rings keep moisture out and the contents sterile, so a proper wash leaves it ready to use.

At roughly three grams, it barely registers on a scale and takes up almost no pocket space, unlike the larger wooden-pick containers it competes with. Beyond dental duty, that fine, strong point works for digging out deep splinters and would even serve as a SIM card extractor. Strong, pointy things are simply useful day to day, and this is one of the most compact packages you can get one in.

Everyday Carry Fit

Neither product is trying to be a workhorse for everyone. The knife has no pocket clip, and it is not designed for fast, one-handed deployment. It reads more as an elegant carry piece, something you might slip into a pocket organizer alongside other items, carried for the pleasure of owning and handling it.

The TipTiPick, by contrast, is an easy recommendation for almost anyone who likes small, useful tools. The split ring is more likely to fail than the titanium body, and the design leaves plenty of room for imagination: the same stop-pin locking mechanism could plausibly carry over to other implements such as spring-loaded scissors or a wider utility knife.

Buying Advice

If you want a knife that opens like nothing else you own and you value premium materials over pocket convenience, the folding knife is a distinctive choice; just plan to open it two-handed while you get used to it. If you simply want a nearly weightless, sterile-safe pick for teeth, splinters, or the odd tech task, the TipTiPick is a low-cost, low-risk add. For most buyers, the toothpick is the easier entry point, and the knife is the conversation piece worth building around.

Conclusion

Daily Carry Co has delivered two genuinely original pieces with excellent fit and finish. The folding knife’s locked swing mechanism is a clever bit of engineering with obvious room to grow into other tools, and the TipTiPick proves that sometimes the best accessory is the one you forget you are carrying. If either fits your carry style, both are easy to recommend.
