Craft and Lore Roll Out Wallet Review: A Roll-Up Minimalist Wallet That Grows on You
A hand-cut, hand-stitched roll-up leather wallet from Craft and Lore that is more practical than its styling suggests, with one notable finish flaw to consider.
Introduction
The Craft and Lore Roll Out Wallet is a minimalist leather wallet that rolls your cash and secures everything with a snap. It is a noticeably different style from anything else in the Craft and Lore lineup, and honestly, it is the kind of design that is easy to underestimate. It ended up being far more practical and likeable than its styling suggests.
Who This Product Is for
This wallet suits people who carry a modest amount of gear: a handful of cards and a few bills. Craft and Lore recommends a maximum of eight cards and about ten bills, and the single-pocket design works best when you stay near that range. If you are mostly a card carrier with occasional cash, the roll-up format stays out of the way surprisingly well.
Design and Styling
The Roll Out Wallet is a vertical-style minimalist wallet with a single card pocket on the inside, complete with semicircular cutouts that make pulling cards out easy, plus a pocket behind it for cards and folded bills. The whole thing rolls up and snaps closed, hence the name. When closed, it measures 2.75 by 4 inches, essentially the same footprint as the Port wallet from the same brand.

One detail worth noting: there is no branding anywhere on the outside. The small Craft and Lore logo sits inside on the pocket, which is subtle and clean. It is a design where the roll-up format, which sounds gimmicky on paper, turns out to be genuinely functional rather than an obstacle.
Build Quality and Materials
The version reviewed here is made from a single piece of full grain vegetable-tanned Horween Dublin leather, one of six available colorways including natural, buck brown, brown, dark brown, and black. Everything is hand cut and hand saddle stitched in northern Idaho, USA. The leather measures about 2mm thick, roughly 5 oz, and the whole wallet weighs just 1.6 oz (46 g).

The Horween Dublin version costs about $10 more than the other versions, with the standard versions priced at $59 and the Dublin at $69. For a handmade, hand-stitched wallet made in the USA, that pricing is strong. The leather color and grain are particular highlights, with a rich warm tone that looks great up close.
The one real flaw is the edge finishing. The edges and cuts show no burnishing or polishing at all, which gives the wallet a somewhat unfinished look. This may be an intentional rustic choice, but even a bit of light sanding and burnishing would have cleaned it up without losing that character. It is the single meaningful criticism of an otherwise well-made product.
Everyday Carry Experience
The card access is the standout feature. A gentle squeeze lifts all of your cards up out of the pocket at once, so you can fan them and pick the one you want without ever opening the wallet. When you do need cash, unrolling it takes no effort, and the bills tuck neatly behind the card pocket, unfolded.

Carried at a typical load of seven cards and about eight bills, the wallet measures about 16.8mm (0.66 inches) at its thickest point, which is comfortably slim. The roll-up mechanism simply never got in the way, which was the biggest concern going in. It recalls the layout of the J&J Leather Smith Lucas wallet, which unfolds vertically where the Roll Out unfolds horizontally.
Things to Consider Before Buying
The capacity is deliberate and modest. If you carry more than eight cards or a thick stack of bills, this design will feel cramped. The unfinished edges are also worth accepting before you buy: they will soften with pocket wear, but out of the box they look rough rather than refined. And while the roll-up cash system works well, cash-first users who prefer a traditional bifold may not love the format.
Buying Advice
At $59 for the standard versions, this is a very fair price for a handmade, hand-stitched leather wallet. The Horween Dublin version at $69 is the one to pick if you appreciate rich, characterful leather; the extra $10 is easy to recommend.

If the rustic edge finishing does not bother you, this is an easy wallet to carry daily. It is slim, light, functional, and clearly made with care.
Conclusion
The Craft and Lore Roll Out Wallet is a refreshing, unusual addition to the brand’s lineup: a snap-closed roll-up design that delivers excellent card access, sensible cash storage, and genuine American handcraft at a reasonable price. Its only notable shortcoming is the unburnished edges, and if you can live with that, it is a wallet that grows on you fast.
