Introduction

Coros is producing only 5,000 units of the Apex 2 Pro Killian Jornet Special Edition, a limited run inspired by one of the most decorated trail and mountain athletes of all time. Jornet has won UTMB, Western States, and the Hardrock 100, and has summited Mount Everest twice in a single week. This special edition pairs the watch with a custom colorway, an extra band, and a race cap, and it even opens the door to a virtual coaching program run by Jornet himself.

What’s in the Box

The packaging uses a silver metallic finish and shows Jornet’s signature along with a photo of the watch. Inside, you get the watch case, a nylon band in a special colorway, and an additional two-tone silicone band made just for this edition. There is also a race cap from Normal, Jornet’s own shoe and apparel company, plus the standard charging cable and manuals.

The cap itself is a pleasant surprise: it is extremely lightweight, ventilated with perforations along the sides, and made from a soft, premium-feeling material. The brim is flexible and the rear clasp makes it size-adjustable, which makes it a strong candidate for hot summer runs.

Design and Colorway

The colorway is the headline here. Jornet chose a white and stone gray palette reportedly inspired by the Norwegian mountains where he lives, and the result has a clean, almost monochrome look that stands out next to the standard gray-silver Apex 2 Pro. The white case is matched by color-matched straps, and the stone gray titanium bezel ties the whole design together.

The special silicone band is the standout detail. Its outer side uses two colors with a diagonal finish at the end, while the inner side is plain white. On the wrist, the white case blends into the band for a smooth, continuous look. The two strap holders are two-tone as well, showing how much attention went into the small details. The nylon band, which shares the “Explore Perfection” tagline found on standard Coros nylon straps, remains a great workout option: it has a nice amount of stretch, does not hold much moisture, and stays comfortable over long sessions.

Same Watch, Special Package

Under the colorway, this is functionally identical to the regular Apex 2 Pro. That means dual-band satellite system support, a next-generation heart rate sensor, up to 75 hours of battery life in standard GPS mode, up to a month of use in smartwatch mode, offline Topo and Landscape maps, a 1.3-inch sapphire screen, and a titanium bezel. A custom watch face designed alongside this edition fits the colorway nicely, with a distinctive font that suits the look.

If you want a deep dive on how the Apex 2 Pro actually performs day to day, a full review of the standard model covers those details. The short version: the special edition buys you exclusivity and extras, not new features.

Pricing and Value

The full kit runs $549, which is $50 more than the regular Apex 2 Pro. Adding it up, it works out well: the watch itself accounts for $500, the special silicone band would cost $29 on its own, the nylon band already comes standard with the Apex 2 Pro, and the Normal race cap runs $40. Put together, you come out roughly $20 ahead, plus you get a more exclusive version of the watch.

The Coaching Program

There is one more perk bundled with this edition. Buyers can apply for one of 25 spots in a free, three-month virtual training program designed by Jornet himself. Athletes are selected based on skill level and performance goals, and the camp runs entirely online with group coaching sessions, regular feedback from Jornet and the Coros sports science team based on workouts logged in the Coros training hub, plus strength training, nutrition, hydration, and mental preparation guidance. It is aimed at longer-distance runners training for a half marathon or beyond, and it includes a private group where participants can interact. The camp runs from late February through the end of May, with applications due in mid-February 2023.

Who This Is For

This edition makes the most sense for two kinds of buyers: dedicated Jornet fans who want a piece of that story on their wrist, and trail runners who like the clean white and stone gray look and can put the extra bands and cap to real use. Since the hardware matches the standard Apex 2 Pro, nobody should feel they are missing performance features by choosing either version.

Buying Advice

If you were already considering an Apex 2 Pro, the math here is genuinely favorable: $50 extra gets you a second band, a quality race cap, a custom watch face, and a shot at the coaching camp. Just remember the 5,000-unit limit and the application deadline if the program is part of your decision. If you simply want the best value on the watch itself, the standard model remains the cheaper route.

Conclusion

The Apex 2 Pro Killian Jornet Special Edition is a well-executed limited edition: a distinctive colorway, useful extras that more than cover the price premium, and a genuinely unique coaching opportunity. For fans of mountain running, it is one of the more meaningful special editions we have seen.
