Best Tool Deals of the Prime Day Sale: DeWalt, Skil, Metabo HPT, Flex and More Compared

Twelve tool deals that undercut big-box pricing by a wide margin, from a compact DeWalt shop vacuum to a top-of-the-line rear handle circular saw kit.

Introduction

The current sale season has produced some genuinely lopsided pricing in the tool world. Across a long list of DeWalt, Skil, Metabo HPT, Flex, Ego, Craftsman and WORX products, online sale pricing is sitting well below what the big-box stores are charging for the exact same model numbers. In several cases the gap is $30, $60, or in one extreme example more than $120 on a single tool.

This roundup walks through twelve of the most interesting deals, roughly in order of how much the discount surprised us. One caveat applies to all of them: sale prices move fast, some listings sell out, and a few of these prices are seasonal, so they may not last.

DeWalt Shop Vacuum

At $111.9, this compact DeWalt shop vacuum is one of the quieter deals on the list. It is very small and very portable, which makes it more of a jobsite cleanup and quick-cleanup tool than a full workshop replacement. It is cheaper than the equivalent big-box pricing, and shoppers who need something that lives in the trunk or a van will appreciate the form factor.

DeWalt Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit

The $129 combo kit includes the drill, the impact driver, two batteries, the charger and the bag. Nothing fancy, but nothing missing either. Compared with Lowe’s and Home Depot pricing, you are saving roughly $20 on the same kit, which makes this a sensible default choice for a starter cordless setup.

DeWalt 20V Max Air Pump

The DeWalt 20V Max air pump with automatic shut off sits at $106, which works out to roughly $30 less than the store pricing. Automatic shut off is the feature that matters here, since it lets you set a target pressure and walk away rather than watching a gauge.

DeWalt Professional Tool Belt

This is where the pricing gap starts getting embarrassing. The heavy-duty DeWalt Professional Tool Belt is $79.99 on sale, against $119 at Lowe’s. That is a huge drop for a product that does not go out of date and does not need batteries. If you have been putting off buying a serious belt, this is the window.

DeWalt 40-Piece Impact Ready FlexTorq Set

At $19.99, the 40-piece Impact Ready FlexTorq set costs about $40 less than the roughly $59 price at Lowe’s and Home Depot. Bit sets like this are easy to compare across stores because the contents are identical, and the difference here is hard to argue with.

DeWalt 20V Max XR Jigsaw

The top-of-the-line DeWalt 20V XR jigsaw is $137.25 during the sale, against $229 at Home Depot and $239 at Lowe’s. A $100 price gap on a premium jigsaw is the kind of thing that makes you double-check the model number, and it is the same model.

DeWalt 20V Max Cordless Impact Wrench, Half Inch High Torque

This is the single wildest gap we found. The half-inch high-torque DeWalt 20V Max cordless impact wrench, tool only, is $276.05. Home Depot lists the same model number at $336. Lowe’s lists it at $399. That is more than $120 over the sale price, on a tool-only listing with no batteries to explain the difference. Anyone shopping for a serious automotive or framing-ready impact wrench should not pay store pricing on this one.

Skil Rechargeable Screwdriver and Skil Flip Drill

Skil, one of the brands Lowe’s is best known for carrying, is also getting undercut badly. The Skil rechargeable battery-powered screwdriver is $18.22 online, compared with $39.88 at Lowe’s, and it appears to be sold directly by Skil’s parent company through the marketplace.

The Skil Flip Drill at $69 is another standout. The head rotates, so you can run a screwdriver bit or a drill bit without swapping tools, which is handy for cabinetry work. The kit includes the PowerCore 20V battery, which supports up to 100-watt output for charging phones, cameras and laptops. It has become hard to find on the big-box site, where it previously sat closer to $90.

Skil 12V Drain Snake Kit

Another $69 Skil kit includes the 2Ah 12V battery, the 20-watt charger and the drain snake itself, which performs well for a compact unit. It was reportedly around $100 at Lowe’s when it could be found there, and the listing has become scarce on the store side. For occasional drain clogs, this kit covers the whole system out of the box.

Metabo HPT Rear Handle Circular Saw Kit

The top-of-the-line professional-grade Metabo HPT rear handle circular saw kit includes the battery, the charger, the dust extractor and the carrying bag for $282. The exact same model lists at $369 at Lowe’s. An $87 gap on a flagship saw kit is the difference between buying one impulse tool and buying two.

Flex Nailer Kit and WORX Pegasus Folding Table

The Flex nailer kit, a house-brand line for Lowe’s, is $249 at 29% off, including the battery, the charger and the bag. It lists at over $300 on the store side. A few other Flex deals show the same pattern: the 6Ah battery sits at $149, while the store sells it only bundled with a charger at $279.

Finally, the WORX Pegasus two-in-one folding work table is down to $103. It is untested in person, but the amount of functionality you appear to get for the price makes it worth a look if you need a portable clamping and sawhorse surface.

Watch Out for Knockoff Batteries

One thing worth knowing before buying batteries on the marketplace: third-party listings that look nearly identical to DeWalt batteries are being sponsored and pushed to the top of search results. They use names like “20V Max 8Ah extended range” or model numbers starting with the same letters, and they often show images that look convincingly official, but they are not genuine DeWalt. Check the brand name in the listing itself, not just the photo, before checking out. If a genuine item ever does turn out to be wrong, warranty registration is where it surfaces, and it can be returned.

It is also worth noting that marketplace price-adjustment displays can be misleading. Some tools appear to be marked up sharply for a short window before dropping, which inflates the displayed discount. Judge the final price against what the tool normally costs, not against the crossed-out number.

Overall Buying Advice

The pattern across this whole list is consistent: the sale pricing beats Home Depot by a healthy margin and beats Lowe’s by an even wider one, with Lowe’s frequently running $10 or more above Home Depot on identical model numbers. If you are price shopping, compare the exact model number across retailers before you buy anywhere. If a tool you need is on this list at sale pricing, that is the time to buy, because several of these prices are seasonal and are unlikely to return before the next major sale event. Stock is thinning on a few of the Flex and Metabo HPT listings already.

Conclusion

Most of these deals are simply good versions of tools people were going to buy anyway. The standouts are the half-inch high-torque impact wrench, the XR jigsaw, the $69 Skil Flip Drill with its 100-watt-output battery, and the $79.99 tool belt. Buy the tool you actually need, match the model number carefully, and skip anything whose brand name does not match the photo.
