Introduction

The Heist from Art Company USA is a mini notebook wallet handmade from 1000D Cordura nylon. It blurs the line between wallet and EDC organizer, combining card storage, cash space, a notebook pocket, and a dedicated pen slot in a package that weighs just one ounce. If you want a fabric-based alternative to leather that also carries a notebook and pen, this is worth a close look.

Design and Materials

The Heist is a vertical-style bifold made from 1000D Cordura nylon, a heavy-duty, rugged, and waterproof material that is described as virtually indestructible with everyday use. Stitching around the card pockets and pen pocket looks excellent, consistent with the craftsmanship the brand is known for.

Branding is kept to a tiny corner tag, and the whole unit closes with a snap. While snaps on wallets are not usually appealing, here the snap holds everything securely once the wallet is loaded, and it proves genuinely necessary. The Heist measures 3.25 by 5 inches when closed and weighs exactly one ounce (28 grams) without the notebook. It is available in six colors; the version shown here is gray. It ships in a fabric pouch with a brand sticker, and a notebook is included.

Card and Cash Capacity

The two credit card pockets are rated for six to eight cards, and testing confirms eight is realistically the maximum. Loading four flat cards into each pocket produced some resistance in the bottom pocket, and while the wallet still snapped shut with eight cards, six cards made everything more manageable. Card access works well, whether fanning the cards out or swiping through them.

Cash carriers are well served too. Ten bills folded in half fit nicely into the large full-size pocket beneath the card slots, which means no folding bills into quarters or thirds. With six cards, ten bills, and the notebook inside, the wallet still snaps up nicely and carries relatively thin. With the notebook removed, there is a large amount of extra room for more cards or cash, and the wallet becomes extremely thin when empty.

Pen Pocket and Pen Fit

The outer pen pocket is one of the standout features. The pocket-sized open mini pen fits almost perfectly, with the pen bottom reaching the bottom of the pocket and the clip rising just to the top, as if the pocket were made for it.

Other compact pens fit well too. A Fisher Space Pen Bullet sits nicely with a little room at the bottom because of its clip, and the Fisher Space Pen Backpacker reaches all the way down with only a small portion of the top exposed. A longer machine-era-style pen fits as well, but its top sits right at the top of the wallet, making it the practical maximum. If you do not mind a pen sticking up over the edge, longer pens will work, but the compact open mini is the natural pairing.

Buying Advice

The Heist makes sense if you want a wallet and EDC organizer in one and prefer Cordura over leather. The material is heavy duty and durable enough that everyday use should not wear it down, and the quality and craftsmanship are top notch.

Everyday carry items arranged flat with a slim notebook wallet and pen

Two caveats are worth accepting knowingly. At five inches tall it is larger than a typical wallet, but the height is justified by the pen and notebook it carries. And while the snap is unusual on a wallet, it earns its place by keeping a fully loaded wallet secure. Even fully loaded with eight cards, ten bills, and the notebook, it carries slim, and removing the notebook gives you an entire extra pocket to fill.

Conclusion

The Heist Mini Notebook Wallet from Art Company USA combines rugged 1000D Cordura construction, sensible card and cash capacity, a removable notebook, and an excellent pen pocket in a one-ounce package. If a fabric wallet-organizer hybrid appeals to you, it is easy to recommend.
